Understanding the HUD
The Heads-Up Display (HUD) in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is your primary source of information during combat, providing critical details about your character, your allies, and the battlefield itself. At the top of the screen, you'll typically find a mini-map displaying the overall layout of the current area, including the locations of allied and enemy forces, objective markers, and important points of interest. Enemy units are often indicated by red icons, while allied units are shown in blue. Key enemy commanders, such as the powerful General or the elusive Pegasus Knight, will be highlighted with distinct markers, saling their importance and the threat they pose. Understanding the mini-map is crucial for strategic decision-making, allowing you to quickly identify threats and opportunities.
Your character's status is usually displayed in the bottom-left corner, showing their current HP, their special gauge, and any active buffs or debuffs. The special gauge fills up as you defeat enemies and perform actions, and once full, it allows you to unleash a devastating Warrior Special attack. This powerful move can clear out large groups of enemies or deal significant damage to a single, powerful foe. Adjacent to your character's status, you'll often see information about your current objective, such as "Defeat the enemy commander" or "Defend the fort." Pay close attention to these objectives, as failing to meet them can result in mission failure. The health of your allied battalions and any allied commanders present on the field will also be displayed, often in the upper portion of the screen, allowing you to monitor their well-being and provide support when needed.
Furthermore, the HUD will indicate the current rank you are achieving in the mission, with S Rank being the highest and most desirable. This rank is influenced by factors such as the time taken to complete the mission, the number of enemies defeated, and the number of objectives completed. The game also provides visual cues for incoming attacks, such as red indicators on the screen warning of powerful enemy assaults. Learning to react to these cues, often by using the dodge mechanic mapped to the 'B' button, is essential for survival. The presence of specific items, like a Titanite Shard or a rare weapon, might also be indicated on the HUD or mini-map once they are discovered, prompting you to retrieve them for valuable bonuses.
