Enemy Unit Types & Weaknesses
Fódlan is teeming with a diverse array of adversaries in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, each presenting unique challenges and requiring specific tactical approaches. Understanding the fundamental enemy unit types and their inherent weaknesses is paramount to achieving victory and securing high ranks on the battlefield. At the most basic level, you will encounter numerous Hollow Soldiers, which serve as cannon fodder. While individually weak, their sheer numbers can overwhelm unprepared forces. They are generally susceptible to any form of attack, but area-of-effect abilities are most efficient for clearing large groups.
More formidable are the armored units, such as Golems and Knights. These units possess high defense and resistance, making them difficult to damage with conventional attacks. Their primary weakness lies in their slow movement speed and susceptibility to certain weapon types. For instance, lances and axes are generally more effective against armored units than swords. Furthermore, skills that inflict status effects like "Stun" or "Armor Break" can temporarily negate their defensive advantages, opening them up for significant damage from your main combat units.
Flying units, like Griffins and Wyverns, present a different kind of threat. Their ability to traverse the battlefield unimpeded and attack from above makes them dangerous, especially to ground-based units. Their main weakness is their vulnerability to ranged attacks, particularly bows. Characters proficient with bows, such as atz, can quickly neutralize these aerial threats. Additionally, certain magical attacks can also be effective against flying units, depending on their elemental affinity.
Elite enemy commanders and unique boss units often possess special abilities or resistances that require careful observation. For example, some commanders might have a "Regeneration" ability, slowly healing themselves over time. In such cases, prioritizing burst damage or interrupting their healing cycle is crucial. Always observe the enemy's attack patterns and any on-screen indicators that sal their special abilities. Exploiting these weaknesses, such as using a character with a "Break" ability against a shielded enemy commander, is key to efficient combat and achieving S Rank on missions.
