The Flashlight is a crucial defensive tool, activated by holding 'S' (or 'Z' in some versions) or clicking the flashlight icon. Unlike the first game, the flashlight in FNaF 2 has a limited battery, indicated by a bar at the bottom of your screen. Its primary uses are:

  • Deterring Withered Foxy: Repeatedly flash Foxy in the main hallway to force him to retreat. This is his only counter.
  • Checking Hallway & Vents: Briefly flash the main hallway and the left/right vent openings to check for animatronics.
  • Deterring Golden Freddy (Hallway): If Golden Freddy appears as a floating head in the main hallway, flash him until he vanishes.
Conserve your flashlight battery by using quick, short flashes. Avoid holding it on for extended periods unless actively deterring Foxy. If Balloon Boy enters your office, your flashlight will be disabled, making survival extremely difficult.
