Camera System

The camera system in Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is your primary tool for tracking animatronic movement and managing the Music Box. Unlike the first game, there are no doors to close, making camera usage a more dynamic and constant part of your survival strategy. Understanding each camera's purpose and how to efficiently navigate the system is crucial.

Accessing and Navigating Cameras

  • To Access: Click and drag the "Monitor" from the bottom of your screen upwards. This will bring up the camera feed, obscuring your office view.
  • To Exit: Click and drag the "Monitor" back down. Be swift, as lingering on the cameras for too long leaves you vulnerable to animatronics entering your office.
  • Changing Cameras: Once the monitor is up, you'll see a map of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza on the left side of the screen. Click on the room names or their corresponding camera icons to switch views.
  • Power Drain: While FNaF2 doesn't have a power meter in the traditional sense, excessive camera usage contributes to the overall "activity" level of the animatronics, and more importantly, prevents you from reacting to threats in your office or vents.

Key Camera Locations and Strategies

Each camera serves a specific purpose, and knowing which ones to prioritize is key to managing the animatronic threats.

  • CAM 11: Prize Corner (Music Box)
    • Purpose: This is arguably the most critical camera. It shows the Music Box, which must be constantly wound to prevent The Puppet from emerging.
    • Strategy:
      • Frequent Checks: You should be checking CAM 11 every 10-15 seconds, especially in later nights.
      • Winding the Music Box: While on CAM 11, hold down the "Wind Music Box" button (usually located at the bottom of the camera feed). You'll hear a winding sound. Release when the bar is full or nearly full.
      • Efficiency: Wind the Music Box for a few seconds, then immediately drop the monitor to check your office and vents. Repeat this cycle. Never let the Music Box fully unwind.
    • CAM 07: Main Hall
      • Purpose: Tracks the movement of several animatronics, including Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica, as they approach your office.
      • Strategy: Check this camera periodically to get a general sense of animatronic progression. It's less about direct interaction and more about situational awareness.
    • CAM 03: Party Room 3
      • Purpose: Often a staging area for animatronics moving towards the vents.
      • Strategy: Useful for tracking Bonnie and Chica's movements before they enter the vent system.
    • CAM 04: Party Room 4
      • Purpose: Another common pathway for animatronics.
      • Strategy: Similar to CAM 03, use it for early detection of animatronics approaching the vents.
    • CAM 09 & CAM 10: Left & Right Air Vent
      • Purpose: These cameras show the interior of the air vents leading directly into your office.
      • Strategy:
        • Vent Management: While you can see animatronics here, the primary method of stopping them in the vents is by flashing your flashlight into the vent openings from your office, not through the cameras.
        • Confirmation: Use these cameras to confirm if an animatronic has entered a vent, but don't rely on them for direct defense.
        • Mangle: Mangle can be seen in these vents. If Mangle is visible in a vent camera, be prepared to put on your Freddy Mask immediately after dropping the monitor.
    • CAM 01: Show Stage
      • Purpose: Shows the starting positions of Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, and Toy Chica.
      • Strategy: Useful at the beginning of the night to confirm animatronic activation, but quickly becomes less important as they move.

    General Camera Usage Tips

    • Minimize Monitor Time: The longer the monitor is up, the less time you have to react to animatronics in your office or vents. Prioritize quick checks and drops.
    • Audio Cues are Paramount: While cameras show movement, distinct audio cues (like footsteps in the vents, static, or the Music Box winding down) often precede visual confirmation. Listen carefully.
    • Balance: The core gameplay loop involves a constant balance between winding the Music Box on CAM 11, checking other critical cameras for animatronic positions, and dropping the monitor to manage threats in your office and vents.
    • Foxy's Counter: Foxy is not visible on cameras after leaving the Parts/Service room. His presence is indicated by flashing your office light down the main hall. Don't waste time looking for him on cameras.
