Game Mechanics Overview

Welcome, night guard, to your new, terrifying job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza! Surviving five nights (and beyond) requires a keen understanding of the tools at your disposal and the threats you face. This section will break down the essential game mechanics, offering actionable strategies to keep those animatronics at bay.

Your Office: The Command Center

Your small, claustrophobic office is your only sanctuary. From here, you'll manage your defenses and monitor the animatronics. Key elements include:

  • Monitor Tablet: Located in the center of your desk, this allows you to access the security camera system. Click and drag to navigate through the various camera feeds. Remember, checking cameras consumes power!
  • Light Buttons: Positioned on either side of your office doorway, these illuminate the immediate hallway outside. Crucial for spotting Bonnie and Chica before they enter.
  • Door Buttons: Also on either side of your office, these close the heavy metal doors. Your primary defense against animatronic intrusion. Use sparingly, as closed doors drain power rapidly.
  • Power Meter: Displayed in the bottom left corner of your screen, this is your most critical resource. It depletes with every action: camera usage, lights, and especially closed doors. When it hits 0%, it's game over.
  • Time Clock: Located in the top right, this shows your progress through the night, from 12 AM to 6 AM. Each hour lasts approximately 90 seconds in real-time.

The Security Camera System

The camera system is your eyes and ears throughout the pizzeria. Mastering its use is paramount.

  • Navigating Cameras: Use the map on the monitor tablet to switch between camera feeds. Each camera is labeled (e.g., "Show Stage," "Dining Area," "West Hall").
  • Animatronic Tracking:
    • Freddy Fazbear: Starts on the Show Stage (CAM 1A). He follows a path through the Dining Area (CAM 1B), Restrooms (CAM 7), Kitchen (CAM 6 - audio only), East Hall (CAM 4A), and finally the East Hall Corner (CAM 4B) before reaching your office. Keep a close eye on him, especially as power dwindles.
    • Chica the Chicken: Also begins on the Show Stage (CAM 1A). Her path is similar to Freddy's but on the right side: Dining Area (CAM 1B), Restrooms (CAM 7), Kitchen (CAM 6 - audio only), East Hall (CAM 4A), and East Hall Corner (CAM 4B).
    • Bonnie the Bunny: Starts on the Show Stage (CAM 1A). He prefers the left side: Dining Area (CAM 1B), Backstage (CAM 5), West Hall (CAM 2A), and West Hall Corner (CAM 2B).
    • Foxy the Pirate Fox: Resides in Pirate Cove (CAM 1C). Unlike the others, Foxy has three distinct stages of activity: peeking out, fully visible, and then gone. If he's gone, he's making a run for your office down the West Hall.
  • Audio Cues: Pay attention to audio. You might hear footsteps, giggling, or even the distinct clanking of animatronics moving, even if they're not on your current camera feed. The Kitchen (CAM 6) is audio-only, so listen for Chica's pot-clanging there.
  • Power Management: The monitor drains power. Avoid leaving it up for extended periods, especially in later nights. Quick checks are key.

Door and Light Management

These are your immediate defenses, but they come at a cost.

  • Checking the Hallways: Before closing a door, always flash the light. This confirms if an animatronic is directly outside.
    • If Bonnie is at your left door, you'll see his shadow in the doorway when you hit the light. Close the left door immediately.
    • If Chica is at your right door, you'll see her shadow in the doorway when you hit the light. Close the right door immediately.
    • Foxy's approach is different. If he's left Pirate Cove, you'll hear rapid footsteps. Close the left door immediately without checking the light.
  • Door Usage: Only close doors when an animatronic is confirmed to be directly outside. Leaving doors closed for too long will rapidly deplete your power, leading to a blackout and Freddy's inevitable jumpscare.
  • Strategic Power Conservation:
    • Early nights (Night 1-2): You have more leeway with power. Feel free to check cameras more frequently.
    • Later nights (Night 3+): Power conservation becomes critical. Minimize camera usage, only checking vital locations (Pirate Cove, East/West Hall Corners). Use lights only to confirm animatronic presence before closing doors.
    • The 4/20 mode (Custom Night) demands extreme efficiency; every millisecond of power counts.

The Animatronics: Your Adversaries

Each animatronic has unique behaviors and threat levels:

  • Freddy Fazbear: The most patient, but also the most dangerous. He becomes active later in the night and will only move when the camera is NOT on his location. If he reaches your office after a power outage, it's game over.
  • Bonnie the Bunny: The most active on the left side. He's often the first to move and can disable your left door if he gets into your office.
  • Chica the Chicken: Active on the right side. Similar to Bonnie, she can disable your right door. She's often heard clanking pots in the Kitchen.
  • Foxy the Pirate Fox: The fastest and most aggressive. He has a three-stage progression from Pirate Cove. If he leaves, close the left door immediately. Fail to do so, and he will jumpscare you.
  • Golden Freddy: A rare, spectral animatronic. He can appear randomly in your office after you view a specific poster on CAM 2B. If he appears, immediately bring up your monitor tablet to make him disappear. Failure to do so results in an instant game over.

Understanding these core mechanics and practicing efficient power management will be your greatest assets in surviving the horrors of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.
