Car customization in Forza Horizon 3 is divided into two main categories: Performance Upgrades and Visual Customization.

Performance Upgrades:
These directly impact your car's Performance Index (PI) and on-track performance. As discussed in the 'Characters & Builds' section, these include engine swaps, drivetrain conversions, tires, brakes, suspension, and aerodynamic parts. Every upgrade has a cost in credits and will affect your car's PI. Carefully consider which upgrades to apply to stay within event class limits while maximizing performance.
Visual Customization:
This allows you to personalize the appearance of your vehicles without affecting performance. Options include:
- Paint: Change body color, rim color, brake caliper color, and apply special paint finishes.
- Liveries: Apply pre-made designs from the community or create your own intricate vinyl groups and paint jobs using the powerful livery editor.
- Rims: Choose from a vast selection of aftermarket wheels.
- Body Kits: Some cars have official or custom body kits that can dramatically alter their appearance.
- Stance: Adjust wheel spacing and camber for a more aggressive look (purely visual, doesn't affect handling).
Visual customization is a fantastic way to express your creativity and make your cars truly unique. Share your designs with the community and download others' creations!
