While many items are compatible, some workshop items may be incompatible with Garry's Mod, requiring creators to consult the instructions page for addon creation. Successful content often involves understanding the game's mechanics and utilizing available resources.

For server owners looking to integrate Workshop content, an API key is required. The process involves:

  1. Generate an API Key at steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
  2. Log on to our website
  3. Click on “My Server” in the menu on the left
  4. Select the chosen server
  5. Stop the server
  6. Navigate to “Basic Settings” in the menu on the left
  7. Under the “Workshop” item, enter the API Key
  8. Enter the Collection ID under “Workshop Collection”
  9. Confirm the change using the “Save” button
  10. Restart the server

Examples of community-created content include:

  • Custom taunts and dances with music and support for Garry's Mod female and male skeletons.
  • Playermodel/NPC addons, such as Cyberconnect2 characters from Hyperdimension Neptunia, offering multiple clothing and hairstyle variants.
  • Recreated maps, like the Forest map from "Baldi's Basics - Field Trip Demo!", utilizing textures from the original game.
