The 'Favor of the Kami' achievement in Ghost of Tsushima rewards players for discovering and honoring all Shinto Shrines scattered across the island. Each shrine is marked on your map once you get close enough, appearing as a distinct orange icon. However, many are tucked away in secluded areas, often requiring a bit of climbing or exploration off the beaten path.
Strategy for Finding Shrines:
- Utilize your Guiding Wind: When you are in an area with a shrine, the Guiding Wind will often point you in its general direction. Follow it closely.
- Look for the Orange Icon: Keep a close eye on your minimap and the main map for the distinctive orange shrine icon.
- Explore Off-Road: Don't be afraid to venture away from established paths. Many shrines are hidden behind waterfalls, in caves, or atop small cliffs.
- Listen for the Bell: As you get very close to a shrine, you might hear the faint sound of a bell.
Once you locate a shrine, approach the torii gate and press the indicated button to 'Pay Respects.' This action is what counts towards the achievement. There's no specific order you need to find them in, but it's a good idea to tackle them as you explore each region. Some of the more challenging ones to find might be in the northern parts of Kamiagata or deep within the forests of Izuhara. For example, the 'Windy Brook Shrine' in Izuhara is hidden behind a waterfall, and the 'North Tsushima Shrine' in Kamiagata requires a bit of platforming.
Tips for Completion:
- Charm of Concentration: This charm can slow down time when aiming your bow, making it easier to hit distant targets or navigate tricky terrain.
- Horseback Exploration: Your horse is invaluable for covering large distances and reaching areas that are difficult to access on foot.
- Map Markers: As you discover shrines, consider placing a custom marker on your map to track your progress and avoid revisiting areas unnecessarily.
Completing this achievement not only grants you bragging rights but also significantly enhances Jin's capabilities by providing him with more Charm slots.
