Teller of Tales — Side Quest Achievements
Ghost of Tsushima is rich with lore and character-driven narratives, often delivered through its extensive collection of side quests, known as Tales of Tsushima. The "Teller of Tales" achievement rewards players for engaging with these stories and uncovering the hidden histories of the island. This guide will help you track down and complete these tales to earn this achievement.
The "Teller of Tales" achievement is awarded for completing all Tales of Tsushima. These are optional side quests that flesh out the world, introduce memorable characters, and often provide valuable rewards such as Ghost weapons, charms, or even new techniques. To earn this achievement, you must seek out and finish every single one of these narrative side stories scattered across Izuhara, Toyotama, and Kamiagata. It requires thorough exploration and a commitment to experiencing the full breadth of Tsushima's stories.
To achieve "Teller of Tales," you need to complete every available "Tale of Tsushima." These are marked on your map with a blue scroll icon. They are divided by region:
- Izuhara: The starting region, featuring tales that introduce you to the initial conflicts and characters.
- Toyotama: The central region, with tales that often delve deeper into the political and personal struggles of the samurai and the common folk.
- Kamiagata: The northernmost region, offering tales that conclude the overarching narrative threads and explore the final stages of the Mongol invasion.
Here's a strategic approach to completing all the Tales:
- Prioritize Blue Scrolls: As you explore each region, make it a habit to seek out and complete all the blue scroll icons on your map.
- Listen to NPCs: Sometimes, new Tales can be initiated by speaking with specific NPCs who have a blue scroll icon above their head.
- Follow the Narrative: Many Tales are interconnected or lead to other Tales. Pay attention to the dialogue and quest descriptions to understand the flow.
- Gear Up for Variety: Tales often involve a mix of combat, stealth, and exploration. Ensure your gear and skills are well-rounded. Some Tales might require specific stances or Ghost weapons.
- Don't Rush: Take your time to enjoy the stories. Each Tale offers a unique glimpse into the lives of Tsushima's inhabitants and the impact of the Mongol invasion.
- Check Your Progress: Periodically check your journal or the map to see which Tales you have completed and which ones remain. The game usually provides a counter for completed Tales in each region.
Some of the more memorable Tales include those involving Lady Masako, Ishikawa, and Norio, each with their own multi-part questlines. The "Tales of Iki Island" DLC also features its own set of unique tales, but these are separate from the main game's "Teller of Tales" achievement. Focus on the blue scrolls on the main island first. Completing all of them will not only grant you the achievement but also provide a deeper appreciation for the world and characters of Ghost of Tsushima.
