Legendary Skills & Their Impact
Mastering legendary skills in Ghost of Tsushima is crucial for overcoming the Mongol invasion. These unique abilities, often acquired through Mythic Tales, significantly enhance Jin's combat prowess and provide powerful advantages in battle. Prioritizing certain skills early can make the game considerably easier, especially when combined with appropriate gear and armor.
Mythic Tales are special side missions given by musicians across the island. Completing these tales unlocks either a Mythical ability or a special piece of armor. These quests often culminate in challenging boss battles, so preparing with a strong understanding of combat mechanics is beneficial.
One particularly useful ability to acquire early is The Heavenly Strike. This skill is unlocked through a Mythic Tale and is considered one of the most useful abilities in the game. While the guide advises against rushing into Mythic Tales immediately, it also suggests not delaying them too long, especially for skills like Heavenly Strike.
Other skills and mechanics that can terrify enemies and provide combat advantages include:
- Winning standoffs
- Using poison darts
- Using Ghost Stance
- Unlocking and using the terrifying perfect parry skill
For maximizing terror, especially in Act 2 during "The Ghost of Yarikawa" quest, using Ghost Stance can cause many enemies to flee in terror. Shooting these running enemies with an arrow is an effective strategy. If past this quest, using Ghost Armor (which gives kills a chance to terrify enemies), poison darts, or winning standoffs are alternative methods. Remember to shoot fleeing enemies with an arrow.
To achieve the maximum standoff kill streak of 5, specific upgrades are necessary:
- Upgrade the Standoff Streak ability to kill up to 3 people (requires 2 skill points).
- Obtain and fully upgrade the Sakai Clan Armor, which allows for an additional 2 kills during a standoff when fully upgraded.
By combining these upgrades, players can initiate a standoff and kill all 5 enemies, earning the associated achievement.
