Dungeons & Raids
Venturing into the perilous depths of Gloria Victis's Dungeons and Raids is a cornerstone of end-game progression, offering elite gear, rare crafting materials, and significant glory. These encounters demand meticulous planning, coordinated teamwork, and a deep understanding of mechanics. This guide will prepare you for the challenges ahead, focusing on two prominent instances: the Catacombs of the Forsaken dungeon and the Siege of Lordly Castle raid.
Catacombs of the Forsaken (Dungeon)
The Catacombs of the Forsaken is a 5-player instance located beneath the desolate Mereley region, accessible via a hidden entrance near the Mereley Lumber Mill. This dungeon is designed for groups with an average gear score of 350+ and requires a keen eye for traps and a steady hand in combat.
Preparation & Gear
- Tank: Requires high Stamina and Block Value. Equip at least one piece of the Heavy Knight's Plate Armor set for its defensive bonuses. Consider bringing a shield with high block chance.
- Healers: Focus on Spirit and Healing Power. The Archon's Healing Staff or a well-enchanted Priest's Mace are highly recommended for their potent healing capabilities.
- Damage Dealers (DPS): Prioritize Strength/Dexterity and Critical Strike Rating. The Mastercrafted Longbow (for ranged) or Legendary Greatsword of the Fallen (for melee) are excellent choices. Bring plenty of Superior Healing Potions, Greater Stamina Elixirs, and Antidotes for poisons.
Walkthrough
- The Restless Guardians:
- Upon entering, you'll face waves of "Restless Skeleton Warriors" and "Ghastly Archers." Skeleton Warriors have a cleaving attack, "Bone Shatter," which applies a stacking bleed. Ghastly Archers fire "Shadow Volleys" that reduce healing received.
- Strategy: Tanks should position Skeleton Warriors away from the group and mitigate "Bone Shatter." DPS must focus fire on Ghastly Archers first to minimize healing reduction. Healers need to cleanse "Bone Shatter" bleeds and be prepared for burst healing.
- Loot: Restless Guardians drop Ancient Bone Fragments, vital for crafting the Necrotic Bone Armor set, and a chance for Cracked Gemstones.
- The Crypt of Whispers:
- This room is guarded by "Corrupted Crypt Lords" and "Whispering Banshees." The Crypt Lords periodically emit an AoE pulse, "Soul Drain," dealing moderate damage and healing themselves. Banshees have a powerful single-target attack, "Screech of Despair," which can silence spellcasters.
- Strategy: Prioritize interrupting "Soul Drain" from Crypt Lords to prevent them from healing. DPS should focus on Banshees to prevent silences. Tanks need to hold aggro on Crypt Lords while facing them away from the group.
- Hidden Chest: A hidden chest containing Forgotten Relics of Mereley can be found behind a crumbling wall (requires a character with high Strength or a pickaxe to break).
- Boss: The Necromancer's Apprentice, Morwen:
- Phase 1: Unholy Rites
- Morwen casts "Unholy Bolt," a single-target spell, and periodically summons "Festering Ghouls." She also channels "Dark Ritual," an AoE ability that deals heavy damage and applies a "Weakness" debuff, reducing damage and healing output.
- Strategy: Spread out to mitigate "Dark Ritual" damage. Healers must be ready for burst healing. The tank needs to maintain aggro on Morwen and position her away from the summoned ghouls. DPS should quickly eliminate Festering Ghouls before focusing back on Morwen. Interrupt "Dark Ritual" if possible.
- Phase 2: Desecrated Ground (at 50% Health)
- Morwen teleports to the center and begins channeling "Desecrated Ground," creating pools of blight that deal continuous damage. She also summons "Spectral Horrors" that fixate on random players.
- Strategy: Players must move out of the blight pools immediately. DPS must immediately switch to the Spectral Horrors and destroy them before they reach their targets. Use crowd control (stuns, roots) to slow their advance. The tank should use defensive cooldowns during this phase.
- Phase 3: Lich's Embrace (at 20% Health)
- Morwen becomes empowered, gaining increased spell casting speed and damage. She also periodically casts "Lich's Embrace," a channeled ability that deals continuous shadow damage to all players and drains their health.
- Strategy: This is a DPS race. Use all offensive cooldowns. Healers need to sustain the group through "Lich's Embrace." Interrupting "Lich's Embrace" is crucial to prevent a wipe. Prioritize interrupts above all else.
- Boss Loot: Expect to find pieces of the Morwen's Shadow-Woven Robes, the rare Tome of Forbidden Knowledge (a powerful off-hand for spellcasters), and a chance for the legendary Spectral Steed mount.
- Phase 1: Unholy Rites
Siege of Lordly Castle (Raid)
The Siege of Lordly Castle is a challenging 10-player instance located in the heart of the Azmar region, accessible through a heavily fortified entrance near the Azmar Outpost. This raid requires a minimum group gear score of 400+ and excellent coordination, emphasizing siege mechanics and strategic positioning.
Raid Composition & Consumables
- Tanks (2): One main tank, one off-tank. Both need high survivability and good aggro management.
- Healers (3): A mix of single-target and AoE healers is ideal. One healer specializing in dispels is highly beneficial.
- Damage Dealers (5): A balanced mix of melee and ranged DPS. At least two ranged DPS are recommended for specific mechanics.
- Consumables: Bring Grand Healing Potions, Major Stamina Elixirs, Feast of the Dragon's Breath (provides all stats buff), and Greater Resistance Flasks (specific to physical and fire damage). Don't forget Repair Kits for siege equipment.
Walkthrough
- The Outer Walls:
- The initial area is patrolled by "Castle Guardsmen" and "Siege Ballistae." Guardsmen have a "Shield Wall" ability that reduces incoming damage. Ballistae fire "Incendiary Bolts" that create persistent fire zones.
- Strategy: Pull small groups of Guardsmen. Interrupt "Shield Wall" or use abilities that bypass armor. Ranged DPS must prioritize destroying Siege Ballistae to prevent the ground from becoming impassable. The off-tank can pick up stray Guardsmen.
- Objective: Destroy three Reinforced Gatehouses scattered along the outer wall. Each gatehouse requires sustained damage from players and siege weapons.
- The Courtyard Skirmish:
- This area features "Elite Knights of Azmar" and "Castle Mages." Elite Knights have a "Charge" that stuns, and Mages cast "Firestorm," a disruptive AoE.
- Strategy: Tanks should face Elite Knights away from the group to avoid cleaves and stun. DPS must prioritize interrupting "Firestorm" from Mages, as their damage accumulates quickly. Utilize line of sight to break spell casts.
- Puzzle: To open the inner keep door, players must simultaneously activate three pressure plates marked with the symbols of Lion, Griffin, and Dragon within a 5-second window. Assign specific players to each plate and practice the timing.
- Boss: Lord Valerius, Defender of Azmar:
- Phase 1: Valiant Stand
- Lord Valerius engages the main tank with powerful melee swings. He periodically casts "Call to Arms," summoning "Azmar Footmen" that focus healers. He also uses "Sweeping Strike," a frontal cone attack that applies a "Concussion" debuff, reducing accuracy.
- Strategy: Off-tank picks up Azmar Footmen and keeps them away from healers. Healers must be vigilant and use defensive cooldowns. The main tank needs to position Valerius away from the group and turn him to avoid "Sweeping Strike." DPS should quickly eliminate Footmen before focusing back on Valerius.
- Phase 2: Divine Retribution (at 60% Health)
- Lord Valerius retreats to the center of the courtyard and begins channeling "Divine Retribution," calling down beams of light that create persistent holy zones. Simultaneously, he gains a "Holy Shield" buff, reducing incoming damage.
- Strategy: Players must move out of the holy zones immediately. This phase is about survival and managing damage. Healers need to keep the raid topped off. DPS should use abilities that bypass shields or apply debuffs that reduce holy resistance. Ranged DPS are crucial here to maintain damage while moving.
- Phase 3: Last Stand (at 30% Health)
- Lord Valerius becomes enraged, gaining increased attack speed and damage. He also periodically casts "Unbreakable Will," a raid-wide AoE that applies a healing reduction debuff and a stacking "Despair" debuff, reducing all stats.
- Strategy: This is a race against time. Tanks must use all remaining defensive cooldowns. Healers need to chain powerful healing abilities and prioritize dispelling "Despair." DPS should unleash everything they have, focusing on burst damage. Interrupting "Unbreakable Will" is paramount to prevent the healing reduction from overwhelming healers.
- Boss Loot: Lord Valerius drops the coveted Valerius's Oathkeeper (a powerful one-handed sword for tanks or DPS), Azmar Royal Guard's Cuirass (tank chest piece), and a chance for the legendary Warhorse of Azmar mount.
- Phase 1: Valiant Stand
