Remember to save frequently, especially after completing a challenging objective or acquiring valuable items.
Yu Jian (First Mission)
Your arrival in Liberty City is anything but smooth. After a brutal ambush, you'll find yourself stripped of your ancestral sword, the Yu Jian, and left for dead. This mission serves as your introduction to the game's core mechanics and narrative.
- Objective 1: Escape the Wrecked Car
- After the cinematic, you'll be trapped in a submerged vehicle. The game will prompt you on the touchscreen to break the window.
- Strategy: Repeatedly tap or swipe the stylus across the car window on the bottom screen as indicated. The faster you tap, the quicker you'll escape.
- Objective 2: Find Your Uncle Kenny
- Once free, you'll be on the streets of Liberty City. Your primary goal is to reach your Uncle Kenny's apartment in Steinway, Dukes.
- Strategy: Follow the yellow GPS route on your mini-map. You can steal any car by approaching it and tapping the prompt on the touchscreen. For a quick start, look for a nearby parked vehicle. Be mindful of pedestrians and other traffic.
- Objective 3: Learn Basic Combat
- Upon reaching Kenny's apartment, you'll encounter some of his disgruntled associates. This is your first taste of combat.
- Strategy: The game will introduce you to melee combat. Use the directional pad to move and the action button to attack. Focus on one enemy at a time. If you take damage, look for health pickups (often represented by a green cross) or retreat briefly to recover.
- Objective 4: Secure the Apartment
- After dealing with the initial threats, you'll need to secure the apartment.
- Strategy: Follow Kenny's instructions. This usually involves clearing out any remaining enemies or interacting with a specific object within the apartment to trigger the next phase.
Post-Mission Advice: After completing "Yu Jian," you'll have access to your first safe house. Always save your game here. Take some time to explore the immediate area, familiarize yourself with the controls, and perhaps try a few side activities like drug dealing to earn some starting cash.
Deadly Exchange
This mission introduces you to the drug dealing mechanic, a crucial way to earn money in Chinatown Wars. You'll be tasked with making your first drug delivery.
- Objective 1: Acquire the Package
- Kenny will instruct you to pick up a package from a specific location. Follow the GPS to the designated pickup point.
- Strategy: Drive carefully to avoid attracting unwanted attention from the police. Once at the location, exit your vehicle and approach the contact to receive the package.
- Objective 2: Deliver the Package
- With the package in hand, you'll need to deliver it to a buyer at another location.
- Strategy: Again, follow the GPS. The key here is speed and discretion. Avoid high-speed chases or reckless driving that might alert the authorities. If you get a wanted level, try to lose the cops by driving into alleys, changing vehicles, or using Pay 'n' Spray shops.
- Objective 3: Deal with Ambush (Potential)
- Depending on your actions or the game's progression, you might be ambushed during the delivery.
- Strategy: If an ambush occurs, prioritize eliminating the immediate threats. Use cover if available and aim for headshots to take down enemies quickly. If your vehicle is too damaged, find a new one. pick up any dropped weapons or cash from fallen enemies.
Key Items: Keep an eye out for the "Drug Bag" icon on your mini-map, indicating drug stashes or drop-off points. Also, remember the importance of the "Pay 'n' Spray" garages (represented by a spray can icon) for losing wanted levels.
