Taking over gang hideouts and establishing your territory is a crucial way to earn passive income and assert your dominance in Liberty City. This guide will walk you through the process, from identifying targets to securing your control.

Identifying Gang Territories

Gang territories are marked on your in-game map by colored outlines. Each color corresponds to a different gang:

Red: Triads (your gang)
Blue: Angels of Death
Green: Irish Gang
Yellow: Korean Gang
Purple: Russian Mafia
Orange: Spanish Lords

To initiate a takeover, you must enter a territory controlled by a rival gang. The game will notify you when you've entered a contested zone.

Initiating a Takeover

Once you're in a rival gang's territory, the objective is to eliminate a set number of their members. The number of gang members you need to defeat will be displayed on your top screen. Be prepared for a fight, as these areas are often heavily patrolled.

Recommended Loadout:

Assault Rifle: For mid-range engagements and crowd control.
SMG: Excellent for close-quarters combat.
Grenades/Molotovs: Effective for flushing out enemies hiding behind cover or dealing with groups.
Body Armor: Essential for survivability. Purchase from Ammu-Nation or collect from defeated enemies.

Takeover Strategy

Scout the Area: Before engaging, take a moment to observe the territory. Note potential choke points, cover opportunities, and enemy patrol routes.
Prioritize Threats: Focus on eliminating gang members with more powerful weapons first, such as those wielding Shotguns or Assault Rifles.
Utilize Cover: Use vehicles, walls, and other environmental elements to shield yourself from enemy fire.
Vehicle Combat: If you're in a sturdy vehicle, you can use it to ram enemy gang members or as mobile cover. Be wary of vehicles exploding if they take too much damage.
Health and Armor Management: Keep an eye on your health and armor bars. Collect health packs and armor vests dropped by defeated enemies or found in the environment. If things get too hairy, retreat to a safer position to recover.

Securing the Territory

After eliminating the required number of rival gang members, the territory will become yours. The colored outline on your map will change to red, indicating Triad control. You'll also receive a notification and a monetary reward for your efforts.

Controlling territories provides a steady stream of passive income. The more territories you control, the more money you'll earn over time, which is automatically deposited into your bank account. This income is vital for purchasing weapons, armor, and upgrading your safehouses.

Defending Your Territories

While less frequent than initiating takeovers, rival gangs may attempt to reclaim territories you've conquered. You'll receive a notification if one of your territories is under attack. You can choose to defend it, which involves returning to the territory and eliminating the invading gang members. Successfully defending a territory will earn you additional cash and maintain your income stream.
