The Cousins Bellic

This is your very first mission in Liberty City, serving as an introduction to the game's mechanics and characters. Roman Bellic, your cousin, picks you up from the docks.

  • Objective: Get to Roman's apartment.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. After the opening cutscene, follow Roman to his yellow taxi parked nearby.
    2. Enter the passenger side of the taxi.
    3. Enjoy the ride and the dialogue as Roman drives you through the streets of Broker to his apartment in Hove Beach.
    4. Once you arrive, exit the taxi and follow Roman inside the apartment building.
    5. Another cutscene will play, introducing you to Roman's humble (and slightly squalid) living situation.
    6. The mission concludes after the cutscene.
  • Reward: Access to Roman's apartment as a safehouse, and the ability to call Roman for taxi services.

It's Your Call

Roman needs your help with a debt collector. This mission introduces basic combat and the use of the in-game phone.

  • Objective: Deal with the debt collector and learn about the phone.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. After receiving a call from Roman, head to the taxi depot marked on your radar in Hove Beach.
    2. Upon arrival, a cutscene will trigger, showing Roman being harassed by a debt collector.
    3. Combat Encounter: Engage the debt collector. You can use your fists (melee combat) or pick up any nearby objects if available. Focus on blocking (right mouse button/L1/LB) and counter-attacking.
    4. After subduing the debt collector, Roman will instruct you on how to use your phone.
    5. Phone Tutorial: Open your phone (Up D-Pad/Tab) and navigate to the "Dial" option. Input the number Roman gives you (usually 555-0100) and call him.
    6. Roman will then ask you to drive him to a hardware store. Get into Roman's taxi.
    7. Drive Roman to the hardware store located in East Island City, Dukes. Follow the GPS route on your mini-map.
    8. Once you arrive, another cutscene plays, and the mission ends.
  • Reward: $30, access to the phone for contacts and activities.

Bleed Out

This mission introduces you to gang warfare and more advanced combat scenarios, including cover mechanics.

  • Objective: Rescue Roman from gang members at the basketball courts.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Roman calls you in a panic, asking for help at the basketball courts in Outlook Park, Broker.
    2. Grab a vehicle – Roman's taxi is usually available outside your safehouse, or simply steal one.
    3. Drive quickly to the basketball courts. Time is somewhat of the essence, as Roman's health can deplete if you take too long.
    4. Upon arrival, you'll see Roman being beaten by two gang members.
    5. Combat Strategy:
      • Immediately take cover behind one of the nearby walls or benches (Q/R1/RB).
      • Target the gang members. You'll be equipped with a basic pistol (9mm Pistol) from the start of the mission.
      • Prioritize headshots for quicker takedowns.
      • If you run out of ammo or prefer a stealthier approach, you can try to flank them or use melee attacks, but the pistol is generally safer.
    6. After dispatching the first two attackers, more gang members will appear from the alleyway. Take cover again and engage them.
    7. Once all enemies are down, a cutscene will play where Roman thanks you.
    8. Drive Roman back to his taxi depot in Hove Beach.
    9. The mission concludes once you drop him off.
  • Reward: $50, improved combat skills, and Roman's gratitude.

First Date

Your first encounter with Michelle, introducing dating mechanics and the importance of social interactions.

  • Objective: Take Michelle on a date.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. After receiving a call from Roman, he'll suggest you call Michelle for a date.
    2. Open your phone, navigate to "Contacts," and select "Michelle." Call her and arrange a date. She'll usually suggest bowling or darts.
    3. Head to Michelle's apartment, marked on your radar in Rotterdam Hill, Broker.
    4. Once you pick her up, she'll suggest an activity. For this first date, bowling is a common choice.
    5. Drive Michelle to the bowling alley in Firefly Projects, Broker.
    6. Bowling Activity: Enter the bowling alley and play a game of bowling with Michelle. Aim for strikes and spares to impress her.
    7. After the bowling game, drive Michelle back to her apartment.
    8. Drop her off, and the mission will complete.
  • Reward: Improved relationship with Michelle, access to dating activities, and a small amount of cash ($20).
