Doberman

The "Doberman" mission marks a pivotal moment in your gang's struggle for dominance in Los Santos. This guide will walk you through every step, ensuring you emerge victorious and expand Grove Street Families territory.

Mission Briefing & Preparation

Before you even think about stepping into enemy territory, preparation is key. This mission introduces you to the mechanics of gang warfare, so understanding them is crucial.

  • Triggering the Mission: Head to the 'S' icon on your map, located at Sweet's house in Grove Street.
  • Recommended Gear:
    • Weapons: A reliable SMG (like the Micro SMG or MP5) is highly recommended for its rate of fire against multiple targets. A Shotgun (Sawed-Off or Combat Shotgun) is excellent for close-quarters combat. Don't forget a Pistol for backup.
    • Armor: Always pick up Body Armor if you don't have it. You can usually find some at the police station in Pershing Square or buy it from Ammu-Nation.
    • Health: Stock up on Sprunk or snacks from vending machines, or visit a Cluckin' Bell for a full health boost.
  • Recruiting Gang Members: This mission is your first opportunity to recruit fellow Grove Street Families members. To do this, aim at a friendly gang member (marked with a green arrow) and press the "Recruit" button (Up on the D-Pad for PlayStation, Up on the directional pad for Xbox, or the corresponding key for PC). You can recruit up to two members at this stage of the game. They will provide valuable backup during the gang war.

Phase 1: Initiating the Gang War

Sweet will instruct you to take over enemy territory. This is where the real action begins.

  1. Locate Enemy Territory: Open your map. You'll see areas highlighted in purple. These are Ballas territories. For this mission, Sweet will specifically point you towards a purple-marked area in East Los Santos, usually around Idlewood.
  2. Provoke the Ballas: To initiate a gang war, you need to eliminate at least three Ballas gang members within their territory. They are typically found patrolling the streets or hanging out in groups. Be careful not to draw too much attention from the police at this stage.
  3. The Gang War Begins: Once you've eliminated enough Ballas, a message will appear on screen indicating that a gang war has started. The territory will flash red on your mini-map, and waves of Ballas will start attacking you.

Phase 2: Surviving the Waves

A gang war consists of three waves of enemy attacks. Your goal is to eliminate all Ballas in each wave to secure the territory.

  • Utilize Cover: Find strategic cover points like walls, cars, or dumpsters. This will significantly reduce the damage you take.
  • Prioritize Targets: Focus on enemies that pose the most immediate threat, such as those with powerful weapons or those flanking your position.
  • Manage Your Recruits: Your recruited gang members will follow and assist you. They can draw enemy fire and provide extra firepower. Keep an eye on their health and try to keep them alive, as they can be surprisingly effective.
  • Weapon Management: Switch between your weapons based on the situation. Use your SMG for groups, and your Shotgun for close-range encounters. Conserve ammo where possible, but don't hesitate to use it when necessary.
  • Health and Armor Pickups: During the gang war, defeated enemies may drop health pickups (small red hearts) and armor pickups (small blue vests). grab these to replenish your stats.

Phase 3: Securing the Territory

Once you've successfully eliminated all three waves of Ballas, the territory will be secured for the Grove Street Families.

  • Territory Acquired: The purple-marked area on your map will now turn green, signifying that it's under your gang's control.
  • Mission Complete: A "Mission Passed" message will appear, and you'll receive your reward, including a significant boost to your Respect stat and a cash bonus.
  • Aftermath: The streets of the newly acquired territory will now be populated by Grove Street Families members, and Ballas will be less common in that area. This also opens up opportunities for future gang wars to expand your influence further.

Mastering gang wars is essential for progressing through the San Andreas storyline and asserting Grove Street's dominance. Good luck, CJ!
