General Evasion Strategies

The core principle of evasion is to break line-of-sight with all pursuing units and remain hidden until your Wanted Level timer depletes. The mini-map is your best friend during pursuits, showing the vision cones of police units as blue areas.

Get Out of Sight: The most immediate step is to drive or run away from the immediate area of the crime. Once you're out of the blue police vision cone on the mini-map, the Wanted Level will begin to flash, indicating you're in the "evasion" phase.
Change Vehicles: If you're in a highly recognizable vehicle, ditch it! Steal a new car quickly. This is especially effective at 1-2 stars.
Go Off-Road: Many police vehicles struggle off-road. If you're near a mountainous area like Mount Chiliad or the Grand Senora Desert, take advantage of the terrain.
Utilize Tunnels and Underpasses: Tunnels, like the one beneath the Los Santos International Airport, can be excellent for breaking line-of-sight. Drive through them at high speed.

Advanced Evasion Tactics by Wanted Level

1-2 Star Evasion

Quick Vehicle Swap: As soon as you get a star, find a new car. Drive a block or two away, ditch your current vehicle, and steal another.
Alleys and Side Streets: Duck into narrow alleys or residential side streets to quickly break line of sight.
Drive Calmly (Sometimes): If you've just committed a minor infraction and police aren't actively pursuing, sometimes driving normally and blending in can work, but this is risky.

3-4 Star Evasion

High-Performance Vehicles: A fast car like the Adder, Zentorno, or a fully upgraded sports car is essential. Speed is your primary defense.
Helicopter Counter-Measures:
- Underpasses/Tunnels: Drive through long tunnels or underpasses to temporarily lose helicopter lock.
- Dense Urban Areas: Weave through skyscrapers and tall buildings in downtown Los Santos. The close proximity of structures can obstruct the helicopter's view.
- Weaponized Vehicles: If available, a vehicle with mounted weapons, like the Insurgent Pick-Up Custom, can shoot down police helicopters.

Military Bases (Fort Zancudo): While entering Fort Zancudo will instantly grant you 4-5 stars, if you're already at 5 stars, the base's extensive layout and aircraft hangars can provide cover. Stealing a Lazer Jet or Rhino Tank from here can turn the tables, but be prepared for heavy resistance.
Submarine/Aircraft: The most reliable method for 5-star evasion is to get into an aircraft (like a stolen jet or helicopter) and fly high and far, or to use a submarine to dive deep into the ocean.
