Vehicle List & Stats
Vice City Stories offers a vast array of vehicles, each with unique characteristics that can greatly impact your gameplay. Understanding these differences is key to mastering missions, evading the law, and simply cruising the streets in style. This section details various vehicle types, their typical performance, and where you can reliably find them.
Cars & Sedans
The backbone of Vice City's traffic, these vehicles are your everyday workhorses. They offer a balance of speed, durability, and handling, making them suitable for most situations.
- Esperanto: A common sight, the Esperanto is a decent all-rounder. Look for them in virtually any residential or commercial district. It's not the fastest, but its predictable handling makes it reliable for early missions.
- Admiral: A more luxurious sedan, the Admiral offers better top speed and acceleration than the Esperanto, but can be a bit more unwieldy in tight turns. Often found in wealthier districts like Ocean Beach or Vice Point. Great for making a quick getaway if you can handle its slightly looser steering.
- Stallion: This classic muscle car boasts impressive acceleration and a high top speed, but its rear-wheel drive can make it prone to fishtailing, especially in wet conditions or during sharp turns. You'll often spot these in Little Havana or around the docks. Perfect for street races or when you need to outrun a persistent police chase on open roads.
- Phoenix: A sleek sports coupe, the Phoenix is a fantastic choice for speed and style. It handles well at high speeds and is relatively durable. Keep an eye out for them in Vice Point, particularly near the beachfront properties. This is a prime choice for timed missions or simply enjoying the scenery at speed.
Motorcycles
Nimble and fast, motorcycles are excellent for navigating congested streets and performing daring stunts. However, they offer no protection from gunfire and a single crash can send Vic flying.
- PCJ 600: The quintessential Vice City motorcycle. It's fast, agile, and relatively common. You'll find them frequently parked in downtown areas, near beaches, and often ridden by gang members. Ideal for weaving through traffic or escaping tight spots. Just remember to avoid head-on collisions!
- Freeway: A classic chopper-style motorcycle, the Freeway is slower and less agile than the PCJ 600, but offers a more stable ride. Often found in the less affluent areas or ridden by biker gangs. While not the best for speed, its stability can be an advantage in certain situations.
- Sanchez: This dirt bike is perfect for off-road excursions and navigating rough terrain. It's not built for speed on asphalt but excels at climbing hills and traversing parks. Look for them near the Vice City Airport or in the undeveloped areas of the mainland. Essential for specific side missions or exploring hidden paths.
Vans & Utility Vehicles
While not known for their speed, these vehicles offer durability and often serve specific purposes within missions or side activities.
- Pony: A common delivery van, the Pony is slow but incredibly sturdy. Its large size can be a hindrance in traffic, but it can withstand a fair amount of damage. Found in industrial areas, near businesses, and sometimes used in missions requiring cargo transport.
- Ambulance: Essential for the Paramedic side missions, the Ambulance is durable and can activate a siren to clear traffic. You'll find them parked outside hospitals (e.g., Downtown Hospital, Vice Point Hospital) or responding to emergencies.
- Fire Truck: The heaviest and most durable land vehicle, the Fire Truck is crucial for Firefighter missions. It's slow but virtually indestructible against minor collisions and can spray water. Always available at fire stations across Vice City.
Boats & Watercraft
Vice City is an island, so water travel is indispensable for certain missions and for exploring hidden areas.
- Speeder: A fast and agile speedboat, perfect for quick water travel and chases. Often found docked at marinas in Ocean Beach and Vice Point, or near major waterfront properties. Its speed makes it ideal for escaping naval pursuits.
- Reefer: A slower, more utilitarian fishing boat. While not glamorous, it's reliable for transport and can sometimes be used in missions requiring a more inconspicuous approach. Commonly found in the docks of Viceport or Little Havana.
- Squalo: A high-performance luxury yacht, the Squalo is one of the fastest boats in the game. It's less common but offers superior speed and handling on the water. Look for it docked at exclusive marinas or sometimes found during specific missions.
Aircraft
Aircraft offer unparalleled freedom of movement and are often required for advanced missions or for reaching otherwise inaccessible areas. Learning to fly takes practice!
- Maverick: A versatile civilian helicopter, the Maverick is relatively easy to fly and can be found on helipads across the city, such as the one atop the VCN Building in Downtown. Essential for many later-game missions and for quickly traversing the entire map.
- Hunter: The ultimate military attack helicopter, the Hunter is armed with missiles and a machine gun, making it incredibly powerful but also challenging to acquire. It typically becomes available after completing the main storyline or through specific cheats. Its firepower makes it invaluable for rampage missions or taking down heavily armed targets.
