Tommy Vercetti is the central character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Players take control of Tommy Vercetti during the mission "In The Beginning..." An average playthrough of the main story takes approximately 12 to 15 hours. Completing side missions and collecting Hidden Packages can extend gameplay significantly.

Tommy Vercetti can acquire various assets throughout Vice City, which are crucial for story progression and generating income. These assets become available after completing the mission 'Shakedown'. Each asset offers unique missions and provides a daily profit once its missions are finished. Players can also save their game at any acquired asset.

• Hidden Packages: Collecting Hidden Packages, available from "In The Beginning...", provides permanent item spawns at safehouses. For every 10 packages found, a specific item will spawn at the Ocean View Hotel, Vercetti Estate, and Hyman Condo. There are 100 Hidden Packages scattered across Vice City.
• Assets: There are eight purchasable assets in GTA Vice City.
