Pumas are similar to Jaguars in their predatory nature but are often found in different biomes and can be slightly less aggressive in their initial approach. They are still extremely dangerous and should not be underestimated.

Phases & Behavior:

  • Observation Phase: Pumas might observe you from a distance before deciding to attack.
  • Ambush: Like Jaguars, they prefer to ambush, often from dense foliage or elevated positions.
  • Quick Strikes: Pumas deliver rapid, powerful strikes.

Weaknesses & Strategy:

  • Awareness: Listen for their distinctive growl or snarl. If you hear it, immediately scan your surroundings.
  • Spears: A well-aimed Spear throw can be devastating. Keep a few crafted.
  • Dodge & Counter: If in melee, try to dodge their initial pounce and then counter-attack with a strong melee weapon.
  • Campfires: Building a campfire can sometimes keep Pumas at bay, especially at night.

Killing a Puma yields Meat, Bones, and Puma Skin. These resources are valuable for crafting and food. The experience gained in combat skills is also a significant benefit.
