Hammer-Ons and Pull-Offs (HO/POs) are essential techniques for playing faster note sequences without strumming. Notes that can be HO/PO'd will glow. To perform a hammer-on, hold down a fret button, hit a note, and then quickly press a higher fret button without strumming. For a pull-off, hold down a fret button, hit a note, and then quickly release it while holding a lower fret button. Mastering HO/POs conserves energy, improves accuracy on fast passages, and is absolutely vital for Expert difficulty. Practice these techniques in Practice Mode until they become second nature.
