Environmental Puzzles & Traps

Half-Life 2 is famous for its physics-based puzzles. Many areas present optional challenges that aren't strictly required to progress but offer rewards. For instance, using the Gravity Gun to stack crates to reach a high ledge with extra ammo, or finding a way to disable a turret without direct combat. In Ravenholm, setting up elaborate sawblade traps for zombies is an optional but highly effective strategy. Experiment with the environment; almost anything can be picked up and used. These often lead to secret areas or make subsequent combat encounters much easier.
