Objective 3: Build a Cooking Station
While raw food can sustain your survivors in Havendock, it often provides minimal hunger satisfaction and lacks any beneficial effects. To truly optimize your food resources and enhance the well-being of your settlers, constructing a 'Cooking Station' is a vital next step. This specialized structure allows you to transform raw ingredients into more potent and satisfying meals, often accompanied by temporary buffs that can aid in various tasks. To craft the Cooking Station, you will need to visit your 'Basic Workbench'.
The materials required for the Cooking Station are 6x Logs and 3x Stone. Logs, as you know, are gathered from floating debris or harvested trees. Stone can be found amongst wreckage or mined from specific rock formations. Once you have acquired these resources, you can craft the Cooking Station at your Basic Workbench. After crafting, place the station on your platform. Similar to the Farm Plot, choose a location that is easily accessible and integrated into your base layout. Interacting with the Cooking Station will reveal a menu of available recipes. These recipes use the raw food items you have harvested, along with other potential ingredients.
To operate the Cooking Station, you will need a source of fuel. This can be provided by wood or coal, both of which are relatively common resources. By combining raw food items with fuel and selecting a recipe, you can prepare several cooked dishes. For instance, a simple 'Cooked Potato' will likely offer more hunger satisfaction than a raw potato and might even provide a minor stamina boost. More complex recipes, requiring multiple ingredients, can yield even greater benefits, such as increased resource gathering speed or improved resistance to environmental hazards. Mastering the Cooking Station is key to efficient resource management and ensuring your survivors are not just fed, but thriving. It represents a significant step up in your settlement's self-sufficiency and overall quality of life.
