Understanding Card Types

Hearthstone's strategic depth is built upon a foundation of distinct card types, each with its own unique role and impact on the game. The most prevalent are Minions, which are creatures that occupy the board, possess attack and health values, and can attack enemy minions or the opposing hero. Spells are one-time effects that can alter the game state dramatically, ranging from direct damage and healing to board clears and card draw. Weapons are equipable by certain classes, granting the hero attack power for a limited number of uses or turns, allowing them to directly engage in combat. Each of these card types interacts with the game in fundamentally different ways. For example, minions provide a persistent presence on the board, while spells offer immediate impact. Weapons allow for direct hero-to-hero combat. Understanding when and how to deploy each type is absolutely fundamental to building strong, synergistic decks and executing effective strategies.
