The Knight's journey through Hallownest is defined by the acquisition and mastery of several abilities. These skills are not only essential for combat but also for traversing the complex and often treacherous environments of the kingdom. From basic movement enhancements to powerful magical spells, each ability unlocks new possibilities and opens up previously inaccessible areas.
The Knight begins its adventure with only the most basic of movements: walking and jumping. However, as the journey progresses, new abilities are learned, sificantly expanding The Knight's capabilities. The Nail Arts, such as the Dash Slash, Great Slash, and Cyclone Slash, are learned from specific trainers and enhance melee combat. Spells like the Vengeful Spirit (and its upgraded form, Shade Soul), Desolate Dive (and its upgraded form, Descending Dark), and Howling Wraiths (and its upgraded form, Abyss Shriek) provide powerful ranged or area-of-effect attacks, fueled by Soul. Movement abilities like the Mothwing Cloak (dash), Mantis Claw (wall cling and jump), and Monarch Wings (double jump) are crucial for platforming and exploration, allowing access to new paths and secrets. The Crystal Heart allows for a sustained dash, enabling traversal across large gaps.
