Endings
Hollow Knight features multiple distinct endings, each offering a different conclusion to The Knight's journey and the fate of Hallownest. These endings are determined by the player's actions, choices, and the extent of their exploration and power acquisition throughout the game. Unlocking them encourages multiple playthroughs and a deeper understanding of the lore.
The primary endings revolve around confronting the Hollow Knight and the influence of the Radiance. Some endings are more straightforward, while others require specific items, quests, and the defeat of optional bosses. The game's narrative is multifaceted, and its endings provide closure or new perspectives on the tragic events unfolding in the kingdom.
Here are the main endings and how to achieve them:
- The Hollow Knight Ending:
- Requirement: Defeat the Hollow Knight without acquiring the Void Heart charm.
- Outcome: The Knight takes the place of the Hollow Knight, containing the infection.
- The Dreamers Ending:
- Requirement: Acquire the Dream Nail, defeat the three Dreamers (Lurien, Monomon, Herrah), and then defeat the Hollow Knight.
- Outcome: The Knight shatters the Hollow Knight, freeing itself from its vessel role.
- The Void Heart Ending:
- Requirement: Acquire the Void Heart charm (by collecting the three King's Fragments and defeating the Shade Lord in the Abyss), defeat the three Dreamers, and then defeat the Hollow Knight.
- Outcome: A more definitive conclusion where The Knight confronts the Radiance directly.
- Sealed Siblings Ending:
- Requirement: Achieve The Void Heart Ending, and then defeat the Hollow Knight again after a specific event occurs.
- Outcome: A variation of The Void Heart ending with a slightly different narrative conclusion.
Additionally, the Godmaster DLC introduces its own set of endings tied to the Pantheons within the Godhome, offering further challenges and narrative conclusions.
