Geo Farming Strategies

Geo, the currency of Hallownest, is essential for purchasing vital upgrades, charms, and unlocking new areas. While exploration and defeating enemies will naturally net you a decent amount, dedicated farming can significantly speed up your progress. This section outlines efficient strategies to accumulate Geo, from early-game necessities to late-game abundance.

Early Game Geo Accumulation (Pre-Mantis Claw)

In the initial hours of your journey, Geo can feel scarce. Focus on these methods to get a head start:

  • Greenpath Grinding:
    • Location: Greenpath, particularly the areas around the Stag Station and the path leading to Hornet's first encounter.
    • Strategy: The Vengefly and Mosskin enemies here are relatively easy to defeat and respawn quickly. Equip the Gathering Swarm charm (purchased from Sly in Dirtmouth for 300 Geo) as soon as possible. This charm will automatically collect Geo dropped by defeated enemies, saving you valuable time.
    • Walkthrough: From the Greenpath Stag Station, head left and then down. Clear the cluster of Mosskin and Vengeflies. Continue left, defeating more enemies, then loop back to the Stag Station to reset the area. Repeat this circuit.
  • Forgotten Crossroads Patrol:
    • Location: The main pathways of the Forgotten Crossroads, especially near the Ancestral Mound and the path towards Greenpath.
    • Strategy: Tiktiks, Vengeflies, and Husk Hornheads are common here. While individual Geo drops are small, their abundance makes this a viable early-game option.
    • Walkthrough: Start at the Forgotten Crossroads bench near the Ancestral Mound. Head right, clearing enemies, then descend and loop back towards the bench.

Mid-Game Geo Farming (Post-Mantis Claw & Dash)

With more movement abilities, you can access more lucrative farming spots and utilize more advanced charm setups.

  • Fungal Wastes - Mantis Village Approach:
    • Location: The area directly preceding the Mantis Village in Fungal Wastes.
    • Strategy: The Mantis Warriors here drop a decent amount of Geo and are predictable once you learn their patterns. This spot is excellent for practicing combat while earning currency.
    • Walkthrough: From the Mantis Village bench, head left, then up and right. Clear the Mantis Warriors and Mantis Youth. Continue through the small corridor, then return to the bench to reset. Consider equipping Fragile Greed (purchased from Leg Eater in Fungal Wastes for 250 Geo) to significantly boost Geo drops. Be mindful that Fragile Greed breaks upon death, but can be repaired by Leg Eater for a fee.
  • Deepnest - Failed Tramway:
    • Location: The Failed Tramway section of Deepnest.
    • Strategy: The Stalking Devouts and Deepling enemies here drop considerable Geo. This area can be challenging, but the rewards are worth it.
    • Walkthrough: Access the Failed Tramway via the Queen's Gardens or Fungal Wastes. From the Failed Tramway bench, head right, clearing the Stalking Devouts. Continue through the area, defeating Deeplings, and then return to the bench. This route is best attempted once you have a few mask upgrades and nail enhancements.

Late-Game Geo Farming (Post-Dream Nail & Advanced Charms)

Once you have access to the Dream Nail and more powerful charms, Geo farming becomes incredibly efficient.

  • Colosseum of Fools - Trial of the Warrior:
    • Location: Colosseum of Fools in Kingdom's Edge.
    • Strategy: The Trial of the Warrior is a combat challenge that rewards 1,000 Geo upon completion. It's relatively straightforward and can be repeated indefinitely.
    • Walkthrough: Travel to Kingdom's Edge and enter the Colosseum. Speak to the Pale Lurker to initiate the Trial of the Warrior. Focus on quick clears. Charms like Quick Slash, Mark of Pride, and Fragile Strength (or Unbreakable Strength) will make this trial much faster.
  • Royal Waterways - Flukemarm's Lair (Dream Nail Abuse):
    • Location: The area where you fought Flukemarm in the Royal Waterways.
    • Strategy: This is arguably the most efficient late-game Geo farm. After defeating Flukemarm, its corpse remains. You can repeatedly Dream Nail its corpse to spawn Flukefeys, which drop Geo.
    • Walkthrough: Travel to the Royal Waterways and navigate to Flukemarm's arena. Equip Dream Wielder (purchased from the Seer for 500 Essence) to significantly reduce Dream Nail charge time. Stand near Flukemarm's corpse and repeatedly use the Dream Nail. The spawned Flukefeys are weak and drop Geo. Combine with Gathering Swarm and Fragile/Unbreakable Greed for maximum Geo. This method is incredibly safe and yields Geo rapidly.
  • Deepnest - Hot Spring (Dream Nail Abuse):
    • Location: The Hot Spring area of Deepnest, near the Distant Village.
    • Strategy: Similar to Flukemarm, the corpse of the large Deepnest creature near the Hot Spring can be Dream Nailed to spawn enemies (Corpse Creepers) that drop Geo.
    • Walkthrough: Head to the Hot Spring in Deepnest. Locate the large corpse. Equip Dream Wielder, Gathering Swarm, and Fragile/Unbreakable Greed. Repeatedly Dream Nail the corpse to spawn Corpse Creepers and collect their Geo.

Recommended Charm Setups for Geo Farming

  • Essential Charms:
    • Gathering Swarm (300 Geo from Sly): Automatically collects Geo, saving immense time and preventing Geo loss in hazardous areas. Absolutely crucial for any farming strategy.
    • Fragile Greed / Unbreakable Greed (250 Geo from Leg Eater / 9,000 Geo to upgrade from Divine): Increases Geo drops from enemies. Fragile Greed breaks upon death, requiring repair, while Unbreakable Greed is permanent but costly. Prioritize getting Fragile Greed early, and consider upgrading to Unbreakable Greed once you have a stable Geo income.
  • Situational Charms:
    • Dream Wielder (500 Essence from Seer): Speeds up Dream Nail charge time, making Dream Nail abuse strategies (Flukemarm, Deepnest Hot Spring) significantly more efficient.
    • Longnail / Mark of Pride (300 Geo from Sly / 2400 Geo from Mantis Tribe): Increases nail reach, making it easier to hit enemies and collect Geo from a distance, especially useful in crowded farming spots.
    • Quick Slash (Found in Kingdom's Edge): Increases nail attack speed, allowing for faster enemy elimination and quicker Geo acquisition. Excellent for combat-heavy farming routes.
