Damage over Time (DoT) teams in Honkai: Star Rail focus on applying debilitating status effects to enemies, such as Bleed, Burn, Shock, and Wind Shear. These effects deal damage at the start of each turn, allowing your team to focus on setup and survival while the DoTs chip away at enemy health. Building a strong DoT team requires careful selection of characters who excel at applying these effects and characters who can amplify their damage or provide crucial support.

The core of a DoT team revolves around characters who can reliably apply and enhance these damage-over-time effects. Key characters often include Kafka, who can trigger DoTs instantly and deal additional damage, and Sampo, who is excellent at spreading Wind Shear. Other strong DoT applicators and enablers include Guinaifen for Firekiss (Burn) and Luka for Bleed. Support characters like Ruan Mei can significantly boost DoT damage and debuff resistance, while Pela can reduce enemy DEF, making them more vulnerable to all forms of damage, including DoTs.

When constructing a DoT team, consider the following:
