Trace System & Eidolons
The Trace System is a fundamental character progression mechanic in Honkai: Star Rail, allowing players to unlock and enhance a character's unique abilities and passive stat bonuses. Each character possesses a distinct Traces tree, which is divided into several tiers. The primary Traces typically include their Basic Attack, Skill, and Ultimate abilities, which should be prioritized for leveling up as they form the core of a character's offensive or supportive capabilities. Following these, focus on upgrading their Talent, which often provides passive benefits or unique mechanics. Finally, the minor Traces offer smaller stat boosts, such as increased ATK, DEF, or HP, and should be upgraded once the more impactful abilities are enhanced. Eidolons, on the other hand, function similarly to character constellations in other gacha games. They are unlocked by obtaining duplicate copies of a specific character. Each Eidolon level grants a significant power boost or a new passive effect, often dramatically altering a character's playstyle or enhancing their existing strengths. For example, an Eidolon might increase the damage of a character's Ultimate, reduce the Skill Point cost of their abilities, or grant them additional effects upon triggering certain conditions. Acquiring Eidolons for key characters can be a major power spike, making them highly sought after. carefully consider which characters they wish to invest in and potentially pursue Eidolons for, as they represent a significant investment of resources and luck.
