Light Cone Basics
Light Cones are the primary equipment for characters in Honkai: Star Rail, serving as their weapons and providing significant stat boosts and unique passive abilities. Choosing the right Light Cone is crucial for optimizing a character's performance, whether they are a damage dealer, a support, or a defender.
Each character belongs to a specific Path (e.g., Destruction, Hunt, Preservation), and Light Cones are also tied to these Paths. Generally, a character performs best when equipped with a Light Cone that matches their Path, as this often unlocks synergistic passive effects. However, some Light Cones offer universally beneficial stats or effects that can be useful on characters outside their designated Path.
Light Cones come in various rarities, from 3-star to 5-star, with higher rarities offering greater base stats and more impactful passive abilities. They can be obtained through Warps, as rewards from events, or purchased from the Starlight Exchange. Once acquired, Light Cones can be leveled up using EXP materials and Superimposition materials. Leveling increases their base stats, while Superimposition (using duplicate copies of the same Light Cone) enhances the potency of their passive ability.
When selecting a Light Cone, consider the following:
- Path Synergy: Does the Light Cone's Path match the character's?
- Passive Ability: Does the passive effect complement the character's role and kit? For example, a DPS might benefit from increased Crit Rate or DMG, while a support might prefer increased Energy Regeneration Rate or Effect RES.
- Base Stats: The primary stats like ATK, DEF, and HP are important, especially for characters who scale heavily with them.
- Superimposition Level: The higher the Superimposition level, the stronger the passive effect.
Experimenting with different Light Cones is key to finding the optimal build for each character, especially as you acquire more powerful options through gameplay and Warps.
