Understanding the Gacha System — Honkai: Star Rail Guide

The Gacha system, known as 'Warps' in Honkai: Star Rail, is the primary method for acquiring new characters and powerful Light Cones. It operates on a system of chance, where players spend in-game currency to receive random items. Understanding the nuances of this system is crucial for efficient resource management and strategic acquisition of desired units.

Honkai: Star Rail features several types of Warps, each with its own pool of available items and specific focus. These include the Standard Warp, Character Event Warps, and Light Cone Event Warps. Each banner has different probabilities for obtaining 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star items, as well as pity systems designed to guarantee a high-rarity item after a certain number of pulls.

Types of Warps

  • Standard Warp: This is a permanent banner featuring a fixed pool of characters and Light Cones. It's a good place to start if you're new, but Event Warps offer more targeted acquisition.
  • Character Event Warp: These banners feature a specific 5-star character with increased drop rates for a limited time. They also include a selection of 4-star characters with boosted rates. This is where you'll want to focus your Stellar Jade if you're aiming for a particular character.
  • Light Cone Event Warp: Similar to the Character Event Warp, but focuses on boosting the drop rates of specific 5-star Light Cones. These are essential for optimizing your characters' performance.

Pity System Explained

The Pity system is a core mechanic that ensures players will eventually receive a high-rarity item. It works as follows:

  • 90 Pity (Standard & Character Event Warp): You are guaranteed to receive a 5-star character within 90 pulls.
  • 50 Pity (Light Cone Event Warp): You are guaranteed to receive a 5-star Light Cone within 50 pulls.
  • 50/50 (Character Event Warp): If you pull a 5-star character on a Character Event Warp, there's a 50% chance it will be the featured character. If it's not, your next 5-star character pulled on that banner is guaranteed to be the featured one.
  • Guaranteed (Light Cone Event Warp): If you pull a 5-star Light Cone on a Light Cone Event Warp, there's a 75% chance it will be the featured Light Cone. If it's not, your next 5-star Light Cone pulled on that banner is guaranteed to be the featured one.

In-Game Currencies for Warping

  • Star Rail Pass: Used for Standard Warps.
  • Special Star Rail Pass: Used for Character Event Warps and Light Cone Event Warps.
  • Stellar Jade: The primary premium currency, which can be exchanged for Star Rail Passes and Special Star Rail Passes. You earn Stellar Jade through quests, events, daily logins, and other in-game activities.

Tips for Smart Warping

  • Save Your Stellar Jade: Don't spend Stellar Jade impulsively. Save up for banners featuring characters or Light Cones that synergize well with your existing team or fill a crucial role.
  • Understand Banner Cycles: Keep an eye on upcoming banners and their featured units to plan your pulls accordingly.
  • Focus on Key Characters/Light Cones: Prioritize obtaining essential 5-star characters and their sature Light Cones if they significantly improve your gameplay experience.
  • Don't Neglect 4-Stars: Many powerful 4-star characters and Light Cones can be obtained from Event Warps.

By understanding the Pity system and strategic use of Stellar Jade, you can navigate the Gacha system effectively and build a strong roster of characters and Light Cones to conquer all challenges in Honkai: Star Rail.
