Chapter 10: Vengeance

Welcome to "Vengeance," a chapter that truly lives up to its name. This level is a brutal gauntlet designed to test your mastery of combat and environmental awareness. Expect tight corridors, numerous enemies, and a relentless pace. Your goal is to systematically clear each floor, making strategic use of cover and weapon drops.

Mask Selection & Strategy

For this chapter, the Tony mask (Tiger) is an excellent choice. Its increased melee attack speed is invaluable for quickly dispatching enemies in close quarters, which you'll encounter frequently. Alternatively, the Don Juan mask (Horse) can be useful for its door-kill ability, allowing for instant takedowns on unsuspecting foes behind closed doors. However, Tony's raw combat advantage often proves more consistent.

Floor 1: Ground Floor Assault

You begin on the ground floor, facing an immediate threat. This area is relatively open, but enemies are positioned to ambush you.

  • Initial Engagement: Immediately move forward. You'll spot a Baseball Bat near your starting position. Grab it.
  • First Room (Left): There's usually one enemy patrolling here. Use the Baseball Bat to take him down. Be mindful of any noise you make, as it can alert others.
  • Main Corridor: Proceed cautiously into the main corridor. Expect at least two enemies here, often armed with firearms. Use the doorframes for cover. If you have the Don Juan mask, a door-kill can clear one threat quickly. Otherwise, bait them into melee range or use thrown weapons.
  • Stairs to Floor 2: Once the ground floor is clear, locate the stairs leading up. There's often an enemy guarding the base of the stairs or patrolling nearby.

Floor 2: The Gauntlet

The second floor is a more confined space, demanding precise movement and quick reflexes.

  • Stairwell Entry: As you ascend, an enemy might be waiting at the top of the stairs. Be ready to react instantly. A quick melee attack or a thrown weapon is ideal.
  • Central Room: This room is often heavily populated. Look for a Shotgun or a Machine Gun if available from fallen enemies. These weapons are crucial for clearing the density of foes here. Prioritize enemies with firearms.
  • Side Rooms: Check the smaller rooms branching off the central area. They often contain one or two enemies, sometimes armed with melee weapons. Use corners and doorways to your advantage.
  • Path to Floor 3: Clear the entire second floor before attempting to move up. The stairs to the third floor are usually at the opposite end of where you entered.

Floor 3: The Final Stand

The third and final floor presents the toughest challenge, with multiple enemies and limited cover.

  • Stairwell Ambush: Just like the previous floor, an enemy is likely waiting at the top of the stairs. Be prepared for an immediate confrontation.
  • Long Corridor: You'll enter a long corridor with several enemies, some armed with firearms. This is where a Shotgun or Machine Gun truly shines. Use the range to your advantage.
  • Rooms Off Corridor: There are several rooms along this corridor. Clear them systematically. Expect enemies to burst out or be hiding inside.
  • Final Room: The last room typically contains the remaining enemies. This can be a chaotic fight. If you have a firearm, try to lure enemies into your line of sight one by one. If you're relying on melee, use quick dashes and environmental objects to break line of sight and create openings.
  • Completion: Once all enemies on the third floor are eliminated, the level will conclude.

General Tips for "Vengeance"

  • Weapon Management: Always be on the lookout for better weapons. Prioritize firearms for ranged threats and switch to melee for close-quarters combat or when ammo is scarce.
  • Door Kills: Even without the Don Juan mask, opening doors can stun enemies, giving you a precious moment to strike.
  • Throwing Weapons: Don't underestimate the power of throwing a weapon. It can stun or even kill an enemy, creating an opening or buying you time.
  • Luring Enemies: Make noise by firing a weapon or breaking a window to draw enemies towards your position. This allows you to control engagements on your terms.
  • Patience: Rushing into rooms blindly will often lead to a quick death. Take your time, observe enemy patrols, and plan your approach.
