Chapter 7: Push It

Welcome to "Push It," Chapter 7 of Hotline Miami. This level introduces some tricky enemy placements and tight corridors, demanding precise movement and quick reflexes. For this mission, the Tony mask (Tiger) is highly recommended for its instant kill bare-handed attacks, which are invaluable for conserving ammunition and dealing with multiple threats quickly. Alternatively, Don Juan (Horse) can be useful for its door-knockdown ability, allowing for quick takedowns and stunning groups.

Floor 1: Ground Floor Gauntlet

You start in the bottom-left corner of the building. The first floor is a relatively straightforward but dangerous path through several rooms.

  • Initial Room: Immediately to your right, there's a shotgun-wielding enemy patrolling. Wait for him to turn his back, then quickly move in for a melee takedown or a silent kill with a thrown weapon if you picked one up.
  • Hallway Ambush: Proceed north into the hallway. Be aware of a patrolling enemy with a melee weapon who will likely be moving towards your position. A quick door-open stun or a well-timed punch with Tony can neutralize him.
  • Kitchen Encounter: The room to the right of the hallway often contains an enemy with a firearm. Use the doorway as cover, peek, and eliminate him as he approaches. There's usually a knife or a pipe on the counter here if you need a weapon.
  • Final Room: The last room on this floor, to the north-east, typically has two enemies: one with a firearm and one with a melee weapon.
    • Strategy 1 (Aggressive): Rush in with Tony, prioritizing the gunman first, then quickly dispatching the melee enemy.
    • Strategy 2 (Cautious): Lure one enemy out by peeking, then retreat and take them down individually. A thrown weapon can soften up the second target.

Floor 2: The Upper Levels

The second floor presents more confined spaces and enemies often positioned to catch you off guard.

  • Stairwell Entry: As you ascend the stairs, you'll enter a small landing. There's often an enemy patrolling the hallway directly above. Be ready to react immediately as you reach the top.
  • Central Hallway: This hallway usually has one or two enemies patrolling. One might be armed with a firearm, so prioritize them. Use the doors to your advantage for stunning or quick peeks.
  • Left Wing: The rooms to the left of the central hallway often contain a single enemy each, sometimes with a firearm. Clear these rooms methodically. Look for throwable weapons like bottles or cans to stun enemies before moving in.
  • Right Wing & Bathroom: The rooms to the right, including a bathroom, will likely house another couple of enemies. The bathroom can be a tight spot, so consider using a door-stun if an enemy is positioned near it.

Floor 3: Rooftop Rendezvous

The third floor is the final stretch, leading to the roof. Expect more armed resistance.

  • Stairwell Defense: Similar to the second floor, an enemy will likely be waiting at the top of the stairs. Be prepared for an immediate engagement.
  • Top Floor Corridor: This corridor often has a heavily armed enemy, possibly with a shotgun or machine gun. If you have a firearm, this is a good opportunity to use it. Otherwise, a carefully timed rush with Tony or a door-stun is your best bet.
  • Final Room Before Roof: The room leading to the roof exit typically has one or two enemies. One might be a powerful enemy like a fat thug. If you encounter a fat thug, remember they require multiple hits or a specific weapon (like a shotgun) to take down quickly. If you have a firearm, aim for headshots.
  • Exit to Roof: Once all enemies on this floor are cleared, proceed to the exit leading to the roof. The level concludes after you step outside.

General Tips for "Push It"

  • Weapon Conservation: Melee weapons are plentiful. Use them to save bullets for critical situations, especially against fat thugs or groups of armed enemies.
  • Door Tactics: Doors are your best friend. Use them to stun enemies, create choke points, and provide temporary cover.
  • Line of Sight: Always be aware of enemy line of sight. Enemies can see surprisingly far. Use corners and furniture for cover.
  • Fast Movement: "Push It" rewards aggressive, fast-paced play, but always with a plan. Hesitation can be deadly.
  • Experiment with Masks: While Tony is strong, don't be afraid to try other masks like Don Juan for its door-knockdown or even Carl (Mushroom) for its drill execution if you prefer a different playstyle.
