Maximizing your character's potential in Injustice: Gods Among Us goes beyond just leveling up and promoting. A crucial element to dominating battles is understanding and strategically utilizing Gear and Augments. These powerful additions can drastically alter your character's stats and abilities, turning a good fighter into an unstoppable force.

Understanding Gear

Gear pieces are equippable items that provide various stat bonuses and special effects to your characters. Each character can equip up to three pieces of gear. These items come in different rarities, with higher rarity gear offering more potent effects and additional slots for Augments.

Acquiring Gear

Booster Packs: The most common method for obtaining gear is through various Booster Packs available in the store. While Bronze Booster Packs primarily offer characters, Silver and Gold Booster Packs have a higher chance of dropping valuable gear.
Multiplayer Rewards: Participating in online multiplayer seasons can reward you with exclusive and powerful gear pieces, often themed around the season's featured character or event.
Challenge Mode: Completing specific Challenge Mode stages can sometimes award unique gear. Keep an eye on the rewards for each challenge!
Survivor Mode: This endurance-based mode offers a chance to earn gear tickets, which can be exchanged for random gear pieces.

Gear Types & Effects

Gear typically falls into categories that boost specific aspects of your character:

Damage Boosts: Increases basic attack damage or special attack damage. Examples include the Powered Gauntlets or Kryptonian Battle Armor.
Health Boosts: Increases your character's maximum health. The Lazarus Formula is a prime example.
Power Generation: Accelerates the rate at which your character gains power for special attacks. The Ra's Al Ghul's Scimitar is a highly sought-after gear for this.
Crit Chance/Damage: Increases the likelihood and damage of critical hits.
Special Ability Modifiers: Some gear can modify existing special abilities or even grant new ones, such as healing on special activation or power drain on hit.

Augments: Enhancing Your Gear

Augments are special cards that can be fused into gear pieces to further enhance their properties. Not all gear pieces have augment slots, and the number of slots varies depending on the gear's rarity and level.

Types of Augments

Augments primarily focus on boosting core stats:

Damage Augments: Permanently increase the damage output of the equipped gear.
Health Augments: Permanently increase the health bonus provided by the equipped gear.
Crit Chance Augments: Increase the critical hit chance of the equipped gear.
Crit Damage Augments: Increase the critical hit damage of the equipped gear.

The Augmentation Process

To augment a piece of gear, follow these steps:

Navigate to your Gear Collection from the main menu.
Select the gear piece you wish to augment.
If the gear has available augment slots, you will see an "Augment" option. Tap it.
Choose the type of augment card you wish to apply (e.g., Damage, Health).
Confirm your selection. The augment will be consumed, and the gear's stats will be permanently improved.

Pro Tip: Prioritize augmenting your highest rarity and most frequently used gear. Legendary gear, in particular, benefits immensely from fully augmented slots.

Strategic Gear & Augment Combinations

The true power of gear and augments lies in synergistic combinations. Consider your character's strengths and weaknesses, and the role you want them to play in your team.

Example Strategies:

Damage Dealer: Equip gear that boosts basic attack damage (e.g., LexCorp Gauntlets) and special attack damage (e.g., Promethium Longsword). Augment these pieces primarily with Damage and Crit Damage augments.
Tank/Support: Focus on gear that provides significant health boosts (e.g., Fourth World Godly Chest Plate) and power generation (e.g., Ibistick) to keep your team alive and specials flowing. Augment with Health augments.
Special Attack Spammer: Combine gear that rapidly generates power (e.g., Ra's Al Ghul's Scimitar, Tantu Totem) with gear that enhances special attack damage. Augment with Crit Chance and Crit Damage to maximize special attack output.
