Classes Overview

Last Epoch offers a diverse range of classes, each with a unique playstyle and a deep specialization system. Choosing the right class and mastery is the first step in your journey through Eterra, shaping your combat abilities and overall character progression. This overview will introduce you to the base classes and their subsequent masteries.

Upon starting a new character, you'll select one of five base classes: Mage, Sentinel, Acolyte, Primalist, and Rogue. Early in the campa, you'll then choose a Mastery within your chosen class. This Mastery sificantly defines your character's identity, granting access to a unique sature skill and a specialized passive tree. While your Mastery choice is permanent, you can respec passive points and even invest in skills from other Masteries, offering considerable build flexibility.

Base Classes and Masteries

Base Class Masteries Sature Skill Example
Mage Sorcerer, Elementalist, Chronomancer Meteor (Sorcerer)
Sentinel Void Knight, Forge Guard, Paladin Shield Bash (Void Knight)
Acolyte Necromancer, Lich, Warlock Summon Skeleton (Necromancer)
Primalist Beastmaster, Shaman, Druid Summon Wolf (Beastmaster)
Rogue Bladedancer, Marksman, Falconer Decoy (Bladedancer)

Understanding Masteries

Each Mastery offers a distinct playstyle and set of abilities. For instance, a Mage can become a Sorcerer, focusing on raw spell damage and powerful offensive spells like Meteor. Alternatively, they could choose the Elementalist for versatile elemental attunement or the Chronomancer for time-manipulation abilities. Similarly, a Sentinel can become a Paladin for holy magic and defense, a Void Knight for void-based attacks, or a Forge Guard for fire-infused combat and defensive stances.

The passive trees associated with each Mastery are extensive, allowing for deep customization. You can specialize heavily in your chosen Mastery's core mechanics or branch out to pick up complementary skills and passives from other Masteries within your base class. This system encourages experimentation and allows for unique hybrid builds. Pay close attention to skill tags and scaling properties when planning your build to ensure synergy between your chosen skills and passives.
