Getting Started in Last Epoch

Last Epoch offers a rich variety of character builds and gameplay options for new players entering the world of Eterra. ARPG veterans will find familiar mechanics, especially those coming from games like Path of Exile or Diablo 4. Begin by choosing your Realm, Game Mode, and optional Challenges to tailor your experience.

For new players, consider starting with a Leveling Build from the Build Guides Section. These builds are designed to be accessible and effective without requiring high-end gear, providing an easy way to progress smoothly through the campaign.

Game Modes

  • Online: A server-authoritative environment allowing play with other players and trading. You have a maximum of 20 online character slots.
  • Offline: Requires no internet connection.

Challenges

  • Solo Account Found: For solo players, your Stash and Crafting Materials are shared between all your characters.
  • Solo Character Found: For solo players seeking a fresh start and focus on a single character. Begin with an empty Stash, no Crafting Materials, and no Gold. This mode is often used for fair races and tournaments.

The most common way to play is the Normal Cycle Realm. When a Cycle ends, your characters and stashes are migrated to the appropriate Legacy Realm, serving as a museum for your old builds.

Classes Overview

You choose from 5 Classes: Mage, Sentinel, Acolyte, Primalist, and Rogue. Early in the Campaign, you select one of three Masteries. While your Mastery choice is permanent, you can respec points within it. You can also invest points into the bottom half of all other Masteries within your chosen Class, allowing for diverse ability exploration. Each Mastery grants a unique signature Skill, such as the Sorcerer's Meteor Skill.
