Glyphs in Last Epoch are consumable items used to influence the outcome of crafting. They provide a chance to improve the rarity of an item, protect it from being destroyed during a failed craft, or guarantee certain outcomes. Mastering the use of Glyphs is essential for efficient and successful crafting.

Each Glyph offers a different effect when applied to an item before attempting a craft. The type of Glyph used, combined with the item's rarity and the crafting outcome, determines the final result. Understanding which Glyph to use for which situation can save you valuable resources and lead to sificantly more powerful gear.

Types of Glyphs and Their Effects:

  • Glyph of Hope: This is the most basic Glyph. It increases the chance of upgrading the item's rarity (e.g., from Magic to Rare) during a craft. It does not offer any protection against destruction.
  • Glyph of Stability: This Glyph sificantly increases the chance of a successful craft (i.e., the item not being destroyed). It also provides a moderate chance to upgrade the item's rarity. This is a very common Glyph used to preserve valuable items during crafting.
  • Glyph of Despair: This Glyph guarantees that the item will not be destroyed during the craft. However, it offers no bonus to rarity upgrade chance and can sometimes even decrease the chance of a higher tier affix rolling. It's primarily used on very rare or unique items where preservation is the absolute priority.
  • Glyph of Chaos: This Glyph has a chance to transform a Rare item into a Unique item. This is a high-risk, high-reward Glyph, as it can result in a powerful Unique, but also has a chance to fail or even downgrade the item's potential. It can only be used on Rare items.

How to Use Glyphs:

  1. Select an Item: Choose the item you wish to craft on.
  2. Open the Crafting Bench: Interact with a crafting bench.
  3. Apply the Glyph: Before adding any Runes or attempting the craft, select the desired Glyph from your inventory and apply it to the item. The Glyph's effect will be displayed.
  4. Craft: Proceed with adding Runes and attempting the craft. The outcome will be influenced by the applied Glyph.

Important Notes:

  • Item Rarity: Glyphs have different effects based on the item's rarity. For example, Glyph of Chaos only works on Rare items.
  • Crafting Success: Even with Glyphs, crafting involves an element of chance. A successful craft means an affix tier increases or a new affix is added. A failed craft can result in the item being destroyed or losing affixes.
  • Resource Management: Glyphs are valuable resources. Use them strategically on items that have good base stats and affixes that are relevant to your build.
