Waypoints & Travel

Navigating the vast world of Eterra is made efficient through a network of Waypoints and a well-desed travel system. Understanding how to utilize these features will save you valuable time and allow you to focus more on adventuring and less on backtracking.

Waypoints are scattered throughout the world, acting as fast travel points. Once activated, you can instantly travel to any previously activated Waypoint from any other Waypoint. This system is crucial for quickly returning to town to sell loot, craft, or respec, and for efficiently moving between different zones and quest areas. Beyond Waypoints, the game also features other travel mechanics that aid in exploration.

Activating Waypoints

Waypoints are typically found in key locations within each zone, often near quest objectives or major hubs. To activate a Waypoint:

  1. Locate the Waypoint: They are visually distinct, usually appearing as glowing pillars or altars.
  2. Approach and Interact: Simply walk up to the Waypoint and interact with it.
  3. Confirmation: Once activated, the Waypoint will change its appearance, indicating it is now available for fast travel.

You can only travel to Waypoints that you have previously activated. This encourages exploration of each new area you enter.

Fast Travel Menu

The fast travel interface is accessed by interacting with any activated Waypoint. This menu displays all the Waypoints you have discovered and activated, organized by region. You can select any available Waypoint to instantly teleport your character there.

Other Travel Mechanics

  • Town Portals: Players have access to a Town Portal scroll or skill, which allows for immediate travel back to the nearest town from anywhere in the world. This is essential for quick inventory management and accessing services.
  • Mounts: In certain areas or through specific game mechanics, players may gain access to mounts, which sificantly increase movement speed for faster traversal across large open zones.
  • Skill-Based Mobility: Many classes have skills that provide movement abilities, such as dashes, blinks, or leaps. These are invaluable for navigating difficult terrain, escaping dangerous situations, or closing the gap on enemies.

Strategic Use of Travel

  • Return to Town: Always activate Waypoints as you encounter them. This allows you to quickly return to town when your inventory is full or when you need to access vendors or crafting stations.
  • Quest Progression: Waypoints make it easy to jump between quest objectives in different zones, saving considerable time.
  • Farming Routes: For endgame farming, understanding efficient travel routes between Waypoints and farming locations is key to maximizing your efficiency.
  • Dungeon Access: Waypoints are often located near dungeon entrances, allowing for quick access to these instanced areas.
