Champion Specific Tips and Tricks
Ashe: The Frost Archer
Ashe excels at sustained damage, kiting, and providing crucial initiation or disengage with her ultimate. Mastering her requires precise positioning and understanding when to commit.
Early Game (Laning Phase)
- Starting Items: Begin with a Doran's Blade and a Health Potion. This provides a good balance of early damage, sustain, and last-hitting potential.
- Skill Order: Prioritize Volley (W) first for poke and wave clear, then Hawkshot (E) for vision, and finally Ranger's Focus (Q). Max W first, then Q, and E last, taking points in Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R) whenever available (levels 6, 11, 16).
- Lane Strategy:
- Use Volley (W) to harass enemies and push the wave, but be mindful of your mana.
- use Hawkshot (E) to scout bushes for potential ganks or to check objectives like Dragon or Baron. This provides invaluable information for your team.
- Maintain a safe distance from aggressive enemy supports or junglers. Ashe lacks inherent mobility, so good positioning is key to survival.
- Look for opportunities to activate Ranger's Focus (Q) after landing a few auto-attacks to burst down targets or clear waves faster.
Mid Game (Teamfights & Skirmishes)
- Core Items: Your first major item should almost always be Kraken Slayer for its true damage on-hit, significantly boosting your damage output. Follow this with Phantom Dancer for attack speed, critical strike chance, and movement speed, enhancing your kiting.
- Positioning: Always stay behind your frontline. Your primary role is to deal consistent damage from a safe distance. Avoid being caught out of position, as you are a prime target for enemy assassins and divers.
- Ultimate Usage (Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R)):
- Initiation: A well-placed cross-map ultimate can catch an unsuspecting enemy, leading to a pick or a favorable teamfight.
- Disengage: Use it to stun an aggressive enemy champion diving your backline, allowing your team to reposition or focus them down.
- Objective Control: Fire it into the Dragon or Baron pit to stun enemies and potentially steal the objective.
- Vision Control: Continue using Hawkshot (E) to scout key areas, especially before engaging in objective fights or pushing deep into enemy territory.
Late Game (Scaling & Objective Control)
- Full Build Considerations: Beyond your core items, consider Infinity Edge for massive critical strike damage, Lord Dominik's Regards against tanky compositions, or Guardian Angel for survivability.
- Objective Focus: Ashe's sustained damage makes her excellent at taking down objectives like Dragon, Baron, and turrets. Group with your team and apply pressure.
- Teamfight Role: Continue to be the primary damage dealer. Focus on the closest high-priority target you can safely attack. Don't overextend to hit a squishy backline if it means putting yourself in danger. Your constant slow from Frost Shot (Passive) is invaluable for kiting and peeling for your team.
Blitzcrank: The Great Steam Golem
Blitzcrank is a high-impact support known for his game-changing Rocket Grab (Q). His strength lies in creating picks and disrupting enemy formations.
Early Game (Laning Phase)
- Starting Items: Relic Shield and two Health Potions are standard. This allows you to gain gold for your ADC while providing some early sustain.
- Skill Order: Max Rocket Grab (Q) first for its lower cooldown and increased damage. Then, prioritize Power Fist (E) for the knock-up, and finally Overdrive (W). Take points in Static Field (R) whenever available.
- Lane Strategy:
- Bush Control: use the lane bushes. Your presence in a bush often creates pressure, making enemies wary of your Rocket Grab (Q).
- The "Fake Walk": Often, just walking towards an enemy can make them panic and use a defensive ability or flash, even if you don't intend to hook. This can open up opportunities.
- Hook Timing: Don't just throw hooks randomly. Wait for enemy champions to commit to last-hitting, or for them to be out of position. A successful hook can lead to an immediate kill or force summoner spells.
- Follow-up: After a successful Rocket Grab (Q), immediately follow up with Power Fist (E) for the knock-up, then auto-attack. Your ADC should be following up with damage.
- Mana Management: Rocket Grab (Q) is mana-intensive. Don't spam it unless you have a clear shot or are certain it will lead to a kill.
Mid Game (Roams & Skirmishes)
- Core Items: Build Shurelya's Battlesong for its active speed boost, which is excellent for engaging or disengaging. Follow this with Zeke's Convergence to empower your ADC and Knight's Vow for damage redirection.
- Roaming: Blitzcrank is an excellent roamer. After pushing the bot lane wave, look for opportunities to roam mid lane or into the enemy jungle to create picks with Rocket Grab (Q).
- Vision Control: Place Control Wards in key locations (e.g., river bushes, enemy jungle entrances) to deny enemy vision and set up ambushes. Your hooks are much more effective when enemies don't see you coming.
- Teamfight Role: Your primary goal is to catch a high-priority enemy target (ADC, Mid Laner) with Rocket Grab (Q), isolating them for your team to burst down. Alternatively, you can peel for your own carries by knocking up or silencing enemy threats with Power Fist (E) and Static Field (R).
Late Game (Objective Control & Sieges)
- Full Build Considerations: Consider items like Thornmail against heavy AD teams, Force of Nature against heavy AP, or Redemption for team-wide healing.
- Baron/Dragon Control: Your Rocket Grab (Q) can be used to pull enemies out of the pit, or even attempt a steal if timed perfectly on the objective itself.
- Sieging: When sieging enemy turrets, position yourself aggressively in bushes or around corners. A single successful hook on an enemy defender can open up the turret or even an inhibitor.
- Ultimate Usage (Static Field (R)): Use your ultimate to silence multiple enemies in a teamfight, preventing them from casting crucial abilities. Remember its passive also helps with wave clear.
