4.2 Teleport
Teleport, often abbreviated as 'TP', is one of the most strategically significant Summoner Spells in League of Legends. It allows a champion to teleport to a target allied minion, turret, or ward after a short channel time. This spell is invaluable for map presence, allowing for rapid rotations, defending objectives, and joining crucial teamfights from across the map. Its strategic depth makes it a staple for top laners and sometimes supports or mid laners.
The primary use of Teleport is to maintain lane pressure while still being able to influence other parts of the map. A common strategy for top laners is to push their minion wave, then use Teleport to join a fight happening in the bot lane or around an objective like Dragon. This can turn the tide of a skirmish or secure a vital objective that would otherwise be lost. It also allows players to quickly return to lane after recalling to buy items, minimizing the gold and experience lost to their opponent.
Teleport has a cooldown of 300 seconds (5 minutes) and a channel time of 4 seconds. During the channel, the caster is vulnerable and can be interrupted by crowd control effects. This means Teleport should be used judiciously, especially when the enemy team has strong engage or pick potential. Vision control is paramount when using Teleport; attempting to TP into an area without vision can lead to being instantly killed upon arrival.
Strategic applications of Teleport include:
- Objective Control: Teleporting to a ward near Dragon or Baron Nashor to contest or secure the objective.
- Lane Pressure: Pushing your lane and then teleporting to a fight elsewhere to gain an advantage.
- Defensive Rotations: Quickly returning to defend a turret that is being pushed.
- Split Pushing: Applying pressure in a side lane and then teleporting to join your team for a decisive fight.
Teleport can be upgraded through the 'Enchantment' system at the shop after reaching level 6. These enchantments offer various bonuses, such as increased movement speed after teleporting or reduced cooldown. Choosing the right Teleport enchantment can further enhance its utility based on your champion and team's needs.
Countering Teleport involves denying vision of potential teleport targets, such as wards, or being present to intercept the teleporting champion upon arrival. Understanding the cooldown of enemy Teleports is also crucial for making aggressive plays or knowing when it's safe to engage.
