17.2 Reporting Bugs and Players
Maintaining a healthy and fair gaming environment in League of Legends relies on the community's active participation in reporting issues. Riot Games provides in-game tools to report both technical bugs and player misconduct. Utilizing these systems effectively helps the developers identify and address problems, ensuring a better experience for everyone.
Reporting Bugs:
Technical bugs can range from minor visual glitches to game-breaking exploits. If you encounter a bug, it's important to report it so the development team can investigate and fix it.
- In-Game Reporting: While there isn't a direct 'report bug' button within the game client itself, you can often report critical bugs that are impacting gameplay by using the chat command `/bug`. This sends a snapshot of your game state to Riot's bug tracking system.
- Riot Support Website: The most comprehensive way to report bugs is through the official Riot Games Support website. Navigate to the League of Legends section and look for the 'Bug Report' or 'Submit a Ticket' option.
- Provide Detailed Information: When reporting a bug, be as specific as possible. Include:
- The champion you were playing and the champion(s) affected.
- The exact steps to reproduce the bug.
- The game mode you were playing.
- Any relevant item or ability interactions.
- Screenshots or video evidence if possible.
- Check Known Issues: Before submitting a bug report, it's often helpful to check the official League of Legends forums or support pages for 'Known Issues' to see if the bug has already been reported and is being addressed.
Reporting Players:
Player misconduct includes toxic behavior, harassment, intentional feeding, scripting, and other violations of the League of Legends Terms of Service. Reporting these players helps maintain a positive community.
- In-Game Reporting Tool: After a match concludes, you will see a 'Report' button on the post-game scoreboard. Clicking this will open a menu where you can select You you wish to report and choose the reason for the report (e.g., 'Verbal Abuse', 'Intentional Feeding', 'Hate Speech').
- Be Specific and Honest: Select the most accurate reason for your report. Providing specific examples in the optional text box can be very helpful for the review process.
- The Tribunal/Automated Systems: Reports are reviewed by Riot's automated systems and, in some cases, by human moderators. Consistent reports against a player for the same offense can lead to penalties, such as chat restrictions, ranked restrictions, temporary bans, or permanent bans.
- What Not to Report: Do not report players for simply having a bad game, making a few mistakes, or playing a champion you dislike. Reports should be reserved for genuine violations of the code of conduct.
Tips for Effective Reporting:
- Report Promptly: Report issues as soon as they occur or immediately after the game.
- Focus on Behavior, Not Outcome: Report toxic behavior regardless of whether your team won or lost.
- Don't Engage with Toxic Players: The best response to toxicity is often to mute You and report them after the game.
By diligently using the reporting tools, you contribute to a fairer and more enjoyable League of Legends experience for yourself and the entire community.
