In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, Quartz are the fundamental components that allow characters to learn Arts and Crafts, as well as enhance their stats. Basic Quartz are the foundational elements of this system, providing straightforward stat boosts and enabling the use of lower-tier Arts. Understanding how to equip and combine these is essential for building a well-rounded party.
Stat Enhancements
Each Basic Quartz, when equipped, provides a direct increase to one or more of a character's base stats. For example:
- 'HP Up': Increases maximum HP.
- 'EP Up': Increases maximum EP.
- 'STR Up': Increases Strength, boosting physical attack power.
- 'DEF Up': Increases Defense, reducing physical damage taken.
- 'ATS Up': Increases Arts Power, boosting magical attack power.
- 'ADF Up': Increases Arts Defense, reducing magical damage taken.
- 'DEX Up': Increases Dexterity, improving accuracy and evasion.
- 'SPD Up': Increases Speed, affecting turn order in battle.
These stat boosts are cumulative, so equipping multiple 'STR Up' Quartz on a physical attacker can significantly increase their damage output.
Enabling Arts
Beyond stat boosts, Basic Quartz are also prerequisites for learning Arts. Each Art requires a specific combination of elemental points (HP, EP, SP, CP, etc.) to be present in a character's Orbment line. For instance, to learn the basic healing Art 'Tear', you might need a certain amount of Water elemental points, which are primarily gained from Water-elemental Quartz like 'Aqua'. Similarly, offensive Arts like 'Spark' (Fire) or 'Gust' (Wind) require their respective elemental points.
Orbment Line Requirements
Characters have a limited number of slots in their Orbment line, and each Quartz occupies one slot. The arrangement of Quartz within this line determines the total elemental points available. Players must strategically choose which Basic Quartz to equip to balance stat enhancements with the elemental requirements for desired Arts. Some characters may have more Orbment slots or a natural affinity for certain elements, influencing their optimal Quartz setup.
Acquisition and Crafting
Basic Quartz are acquired through various means: purchasing them from shops, finding them as loot in dungeons, or as rewards for completing quests. Some can also be crafted by combining other Quartz or materials. Experimenting with different combinations and focusing on the elemental needs of your party members is key to mastering the Quartz system.
