Understanding the UI
Navigating the User Interface (UI) in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC is essential for managing your party, understanding combat, and progressing through the game efficiently. The UI is generally well-designed and intuitive, providing players with the information they need without being overly cluttered. Whether you're playing on PC or PSP, the core elements remain consistent.
The main screen UI typically displays your current party's HP and EP bars, along with their character portraits. Above this, you'll often see the current location name and time of day. During exploration, a minimap is usually present in a corner, showing your immediate surroundings and any points of interest. Interacting with objects or NPCs will bring up dialogue boxes or context-sensitive prompts.
The main menu, accessed through a dedicated button or key, is where you'll manage your party's equipment, Orbments, and items. Here you can:
- Status: View detailed character statistics, including HP, EP, attack, defense, speed, and elemental resistances.
- Equipment: Equip weapons, armor, and accessories to enhance character stats and provide passive bonuses.
- Orbment: Customize each character's Orbment by slotting in various Quartz to learn Arts and boost elemental stats. This is a critical system for character customization.
- Items: View your inventory, use consumable items, and manage key items.
- Crafts/Arts: Review the Arts and Crafts available to each character.
- Party: Change the active party members.
- Quest Log: Track active and completed Bracer Jobs and story quests.
- System: Adjust game settings, save your progress, and load data.
During combat, the UI becomes more dynamic. You'll see the turn order displayed, indicating which character or enemy will act next. Each character's HP and EP are clearly visible. When selecting an action (Attack, Craft, Art, Item, Defend, Flee), a command menu will appear. Targeting enemies will display their HP bars and any active status effects. Arts will show their EP cost and range. Understanding these combat UI elements is crucial for making informed decisions during battles.
