Exploiting Enemy Weaknesses
In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, understanding enemy elemental weaknesses is paramount for efficient combat. Most monsters and bosses have specific elemental affinities, meaning they take increased damage from certain types of Arts (magic). Always check enemy descriptions in your battle log or observe their attack patterns to identify these weaknesses. For instance, if an enemy is weak to Water Arts, focus your spellcasters on using those abilities. Conversely, avoid using Arts of an element the enemy resists, as this will significantly reduce your damage output and prolong the fight.
Strategic Use of Crafts and S-Crafts
Character-specific Crafts are powerful abilities that consume EP (EP) but offer unique tactical advantages. These range from healing and buffing allies to dealing significant damage or inflicting status ailments on enemies. Learn the strengths of each character's Crafts. For example, Estelle's Crafts often focus on support and healing, while Joshua's might be more offensive. Your most powerful attacks are the S-Crafts, which can be unleashed at any time, regardless of your turn order, provided you have enough CP (Combat Points). S-Crafts are excellent for finishing off tough enemies, breaking through enemy defenses, or recovering from a difficult situation. Prioritize building CP through normal attacks and taking damage.
Positioning and Area of Effect (AoE) Attacks
Battlefields in Trails in the Sky SC are grid-based, making character positioning crucial. Many Arts and some Crafts have an Area of Effect (AoE), meaning they can hit multiple targets. Position your spellcasters strategically to maximize the number of enemies caught in their AoE. Similarly, be mindful of where your characters are standing to avoid being caught in enemy AoE attacks. Spreading out your party can mitigate damage from widespread enemy assaults. Some boss encounters may even have mechanics that require specific character positioning to avoid devastating attacks.
