Hextech Crafting is a cornerstone of the Legends of Runeterra economy, providing players with a direct path to obtaining the cards they desire. Instead of relying on random card packs, this system allows you to use earned crafting materials to forge specific cards. This empowers players to build their ideal decks more efficiently, focusing on key champions, powerful spells, and synergistic followers without the frustration of drawing duplicates or unwanted cards.

How Hextech Crafting Works

The Hextech Crafting system is built around two main components: Wildcards and Shards. These are earned through various in-game activities and are then used to craft new cards.

• Wildcards: These are special tokens that can be exchanged for cards of a specific rarity. There are four types of Wildcards, corresponding to the four rarities of cards: Common, Rare, Epic, and Champion. A Champion Wildcard can be exchanged for any Champion card you don't own.
• Shards: These are the primary crafting currency. You can use Shards to craft cards directly. The number of Shards required to craft a card depends on its rarity: Common cards cost fewer Shards than Rare, which cost fewer than Epic, and Champion cards cost the most.

Earning Wildcards and Shards

You can acquire Wildcards and Shards through several avenues:

• Weekly Vault: The Weekly Vault is your most consistent source of Wildcards and Shards. The higher the level of your Vault, the better the rewards. It often contains a mix of Wildcards and Shards, and at higher levels, may even include Champion Wildcards.
• Leveling Regions: As you play games and complete quests, you gain experience points that level up your Regions. Each Region level unlocks rewards, which can include Wildcards, Shards, and even Champion cards directly.
• Event Orbs and Chests: During special events, you can earn Orbs and Chests that contain random rewards, including Wildcards and Shards.
• The Game Store: While not strictly crafting, you can also purchase card packs directly from the store, which contain a random assortment of cards and Wildcards. These can then be used to obtain Shards if you receive duplicates.
