Old Mill (Exterior)

Welcome to the Old Mill! your initial exploration of the exterior grounds before you head inside for the concert. There are a few key interactions and collectibles to find here, so take your time.

Initial Approach & Gate

  1. Upon gaining control of Chloe, walk forward towards the chain-link fence blocking your path.
  2. Interact with the Gate. You'll find it locked, prompting Chloe to look for an alternative entry.
  3. Turn to your right and locate the Broken Fence section. This is your way in.
  4. Interact with the Broken Fence to squeeze through and enter the mill grounds.

Exploring the Yard

Once inside, you have a small area to explore before heading directly to the concert entrance. Keep an eye out for graffiti opportunities and environmental details that flesh out the world.

  • Graffiti Opportunity 1: Immediately after squeezing through the fence, look to your left. There's a large, rusty Dumpster. Interact with it to tag it.
  • Optional Interaction: Near the dumpster, you can find some Beer Bottles on the ground. Chloe can kick them, a small environmental interaction.
  • Optional Interaction: To the right of the main entrance, there's a Graffiti-covered Wall. You can examine the existing graffiti for some flavor text.
  • Optional Interaction: Look for a Concert Poster plastered on a wall near the entrance. Examining it will give you details about the band playing.

The Main Entrance

Your ultimate goal in this exterior section is to reach the main entrance of the mill where the concert is being held.

  1. Head towards the large, open doorway that serves as the primary entrance to the Old Mill.
  2. As you approach, you'll notice a Bouncer standing guard. He's blocking the way.
  3. Attempt to interact with the Bouncer. He'll deny you entry due to your lack of a ticket. This will trigger a dialogue sequence and present you with a "Backtalk" challenge.

Backtalk Challenge: Bouncer

This is your first Backtalk challenge in the game. Success here is crucial to progressing. Remember, Backtalk is about choosing the right responses to wear down your opponent.

  • Strategy: Pay close attention to the Bouncer's statements and choose responses that either mock his authority, appeal to his ego, or highlight the absurdity of the situation.
  • Key Responses (examples, order may vary):
    • When he mentions his "job," you might retort about how "important" it is.
    • If he brings up your age, deflect by questioning his own.
    • Look for opportunities to use sarcasm or call him out on his power trip.
  • Outcome: If you successfully win the Backtalk challenge, the Bouncer will reluctantly let you pass, opening the way into the Old Mill (Interior). If you fail, you'll have to find an alternative way in (though success is generally straightforward here).
