This is your first major boss encounter, immediately following the tragic events of Chapter 1. The assassin is fast and deals significant damage, serving as a tough introduction to boss mechanics.
Phases & Attacks:
- Phase 1: The assassin primarily uses quick sword slashes and a powerful dashing attack. They will often chain 2-3 attacks together.
- Phase 2 (approx. 50% HP): Becomes more aggressive, adding a spinning attack and occasionally throwing smoke bombs to disorient you.
Strategy:
- Style Recommendation: Swordsman for parries and counter-attacks, or Wild Dancer for evasion.
- Defense: Focus heavily on dodging (X button) and guarding (L1). The assassin's attacks are telegraphed but fast.
- Offense: After dodging a combo, get in 1-2 quick hits with Swordsman, or a short combo with Wild Dancer. Don't get greedy.
- Heat Actions: Save your Heat Gauge for powerful Heat Actions when the assassin is stunned or vulnerable.
- Healing: Keep an eye on your health. Use healing items when your health drops below 50%.
The key to this fight is patience and observation. Learn their attack patterns and only strike when there's a clear opening. Don't try to trade blows, as they hit much harder than you at this stage. Successfully defeating them will conclude Chapter 1 and reward you with Virtue and Ryo.
