Story Progression Achievements
These achievements are unlocked naturally as you progress through the main story. You can't miss them!
- Rescued Mario: Defeat King Boo and rescue your brother, Mario. This is the final boss of the main story.
- Rescued Toad: Find and free Toad from his painting prison. You'll encounter him early on in the mansion.
- Rescued Professor E. Gadd: Free the good professor from his painting. This is one of the first major objectives.
- Restored the Elevator: Collect all missing elevator buttons and restore the elevator's functionality. This is a continuous objective throughout the game.
Collectible Achievements
These achievements require a keen eye and a thorough exploration of every nook and cranny of the Last Resort. Prepare to backtrack and use all of Luigi's abilities!
Gem Collector
There are six unique gems on each of the 15 floors (excluding the Basement and the Rooftop), totaling 102 gems. Collecting all gems on a specific floor will earn you a "Gem Collector" achievement for that floor. Here's how to approach it:
- Utilize the Dark-Light Device: Many gems are hidden behind invisible objects or within portraits. Shine your Dark-Light Device on suspicious areas, especially empty frames or walls that seem out of place.
- Suck Up Everything: Don't just vacuum ghosts! Use your Poltergust to suck up curtains, rugs, piles of leaves, and anything else that looks like it could be hiding something.
- Slam and Burst: Use the Slam ability on furniture and the Burst move to reveal hidden compartments or dislodge items from ceilings.
- Gooigi is Your Friend: Gooigi can access areas Luigi cannot, such as grates, spikes, and tight spaces. Many gems are Gooigi-exclusive.
- Check Behind Objects: look behind large pieces of furniture, paintings, and even statues.
- Specific Examples:
- Basement (B1) Green Gem: In the Garage, use Gooigi to go through the grate on the right side.
- Grand Lobby (1F) Red Gem: On the left side of the room, vacuum the rug to reveal a grate. Send Gooigi through to find the gem.
- Castle MacFrights (2F) Blue Gem: In the Armory, use the Dark-Light Device on the empty suit of armor to reveal a ghost holding the gem.
- The Great Stage (4F) Yellow Gem: In the Auditorium, use the Burst move on the stage floor near the piano to reveal a hidden compartment.
Boo Buster
There is one Boo hidden on each floor from the 2nd to the 15th, making a total of 14 Boos. Catching all of them will earn you the "Boo Buster" achievement.
- Listen for the Rattle: Boos make a distinctive rattling sound when you're nearby. The closer you are, the louder the sound.
- Poltergust Vibration: Your Poltergust G-00 will vibrate when a Boo is in the same room.
- Dark-Light Device is Key: Boos are invisible until revealed by the Dark-Light Device. Shine it on suspicious objects, especially those that seem out of place or are shaking.
- Strategic Capture: Once revealed, Boos will try to flee. Stun them with your Strobulb, then vacuum them up. Be prepared for them to escape your grasp a few times!
- Common Hiding Spots: Boos often hide in containers like trash cans, refrigerators, or even behind paintings.
- Example: On the 3rd floor (Hotel Shops), check the Boutique. A Boo might be hiding in one of the mannequins or display cases.
Combat & Skill Achievements
These achievements test your ghost-hunting prowess and your mastery of Luigi's abilities.
Slam Master
Perform 100 Slams on ghosts. This will come naturally as you play, but you can actively work towards it by repeatedly slamming ghosts after stunning them. Remember, you can chain slams by repeatedly pressing the A button.
Bursting with Power
Use the Burst move 50 times. The Burst is useful for stunning multiple ghosts, revealing hidden items, and even jumping. Use it frequently!
Gooigi's Gambit
Defeat 20 ghosts using only Gooigi. This requires careful positioning and timing. Remember that Gooigi is vulnerable to water and fire, so plan your attacks accordingly.
Perfect Parry
Successfully parry a ghost's attack 10 times. To parry, use your Strobulb just as a ghost is about to hit you. This will stun them instantly.
Multi-Strobe Master
Stun 3 or more ghosts with a single Strobulb flash 5 times. Group enemies together before flashing them for maximum effect.
Exploration & Miscellaneous Achievements
These achievements reward thorough exploration and interaction with the environment.
Money Bags
Collect a total of 100,000 coins. This is a cumulative achievement. Vacuum every coin, bill, and gold bar you see. Revisit floors and re-vacuum areas after clearing them of ghosts, as money can sometimes respawn.
Hidden Treasure Hunter
Find 5 hidden treasures. These are often found by interacting with the environment in unusual ways, such as pulling ropes, pressing hidden buttons, or solving small environmental puzzles. Use your Dark-Light Device liberally!
- Example: In the Boilerworks (B2), in the Laundry Room, pull on the washing machine door repeatedly to reveal coins and sometimes a hidden treasure.
Poltergust Perfectionist
Vacuum up 500 objects. This is another cumulative achievement. Don't just focus on money; vacuum up everything that moves or can be sucked in!
Pixelator Pro
Use the Pixelator to travel between floors 20 times. This will happen naturally as you progress through the game and revisit floors.
Elevator Enthusiast
Ride the elevator 50 times. Similar to the Pixelator Pro, this will unlock through regular gameplay as you navigate the mansion.
ScareScraper Achievements (Multiplayer)
These achievements are earned in the ScareScraper multiplayer mode. Grab some friends or play with online strangers!
ScareScraper Starter
Complete a 5-floor ScareScraper run. This is the shortest run available.
ScareScraper Conqueror
Complete a 10-floor ScareScraper run. This requires more teamwork and persistence.
ScareScraper Master
Complete a 20-floor ScareScraper run. This is the ultimate ScareScraper challenge, demanding excellent coordination and ghost-hunting skills.
Teamwork Triumph
Revive a fallen teammate 10 times in ScareScraper. Always keep an eye on your allies' health!
Ghostly Gauntlet
Defeat 50 ghosts in a single ScareScraper run. Focus on quickly clearing rooms and working together to take down larger ghosts.
