Optimal Strategy
Thwomp Ruins features large, crushing Thwomps and a glider section. In the initial Thwomp section, time your movements to avoid being crushed. The anti-gravity section with the rotating pillars offers spin boosts. The glider section has multiple paths; the higher path often leads to more coins or item boxes. There's a small underwater shortcut through a pipe that can be taken with a mushroom. On 200cc, the Thwomps become a much greater threat due to increased speed.
Key Item Usage
Mushrooms are essential for the underwater pipe shortcut. Stars can be used to power through the Thwomp sections without fear of being flattened.
