Goomboss is the first boss you'll encounter in Mission Mode, found at the end of Level 1. He's a giant Goomba that rolls around a circular arena, trying to crush you. Your objective is to hit him with Mushrooms.
Phases & Strategy:
- Phase 1 (Rolling): Goomboss will roll around the arena, leaving a trail of smaller Goombas. Your primary goal is to collect the Mushrooms that appear in item boxes.
- Attacking Goomboss: Once you have a Mushroom, drive towards Goomboss and use the Mushroom to boost into him. This will cause him to spin out and temporarily shrink.
- Repeat: Continue collecting Mushrooms and boosting into Goomboss. Each hit will cause him to shrink further.
- Avoid Goombas: The smaller Goombas he leaves behind will spin you out if you hit them. Drive around them carefully.
- Avoid Being Crushed: Goomboss will try to roll over you. Stay out of his direct path.
Weakness:
- Mushrooms: Only Mushrooms can damage Goomboss.
Tips:
- Prioritize Mushrooms: Always go for item boxes to get Mushrooms.
- Timing is Key: Boost into Goomboss when he's not directly in your path, or when you have a clear shot.
- Stay Mobile: Keep moving to avoid being crushed by the giant Goomba.
Goomboss is a relatively easy boss, designed to introduce you to the concept of boss battles. Focus on collecting and using Mushrooms effectively.
While Goomboss relies on physical size to intimidate in Mario Kart DS, the Goomba enemies in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope use tactical positioning and status effects.
While Goomboss debuted in Super Mario 64 DS, his massive scale and crown-wearing design later inspired the towering Goomba structures encountered throughout Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.
