Always keep an eye on the mini-map to see which parts are about to fall. Prioritize staying on solid ground, even if it means taking a slightly wider line. There's a small shortcut near the end where you can use a Mushroom to cut across a patch of rough, dark terrain. Performing tricks off the small ramps and ledges is crucial for maintaining speed. If you fall into the lava, you'll lose significant time, so defensive driving is key. A character with good off-road stats can mitigate some of the risks.
